  • Patent number: 9556613
Abstract: A ceiling system includes a grid support member, and first and second ceiling panels abutted at a joint. In the factory-supplied condition, each panel has a facing sheet already adhesively bonded to a central region of the panel. Perimeter portions of the facing are left un-bonded to an annular peripheral region of the surface surrounding the central region. This allows seams to be made in the field. The facing sheet comprises a cantilevered flap extending beyond a peripheral edge of the panel. During field installation, the flap of a first panel extends across the joint overlapping the second panel's un-bonded facing sheet in the peripheral region. The double thickness of facings is cut to form a seam laterally offset from the joint, which is concealed. A field applied or activated adhesive bonds the facing to the peripheral regions of each panel. A related installation method is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8904723
Abstract: A corner guard for protecting wall junctions adjacent uneven support surfaces such as a stair and floor surface is provided. The corner guard in an as-used position with first and second leg members extending upright from a floor and an adjacent second surface at a higher elevation such as a stair, protects the wall surfaces intersecting from a first wall surface extending above the floor and a second wall surface extending from the higher second wall surface from impacts and abrasions such as a hose being pulled around the corner at the intersection of the first wall surface and second wall surface. Positioning to accommodate differing elevational heights of first and second surfaces is provided by translational engagement of the first and second leg.

  • Patent number: 8887460
Abstract: A molding system for use in interior spaces at or near the top of a vertical wall having a decorative surface and a vertical mounting surface including an attachment flange used for fastening the molding section to the wall, said molding section having a center of mass which is spaced outwardly from the wall surface, and whereby the point of attachment of said molding to the wall is located at a vertically higher position on the molding section than the center of mass so that when secured to a wall the lower end of the molding section is continually urged towards the wall surface and is therefore maintained in continual contact with the wall surface.

  • Patent number: 8833019
Abstract: The present invention provides a lath furring strip having a height not exceeding 0.365 inches which has a flexible elastic water resistive barrier (e.g. rubber) to minimize water seepage from the plaster on the lath to a structure behind the lath furring strip and a hemmed mounting leg to increase the strength of the mounting leg near the lath attachment hole. By incorporating a flexible elastic water resistive barrier into the lath furring strip, when the flexible elastic waterproof barrier on the lath furring strip is squeezed by the force of a screw or nail that secures the lath furring strip to a sheathing or moisture barrier (such as building paper), any holes in the sheathing or moisture barrier which might have allowed water to seep from the plaster to the sheathing will be sealed due to the properties of the flexible elastic water resistive barrier covering those holes.
