Abstract: A method for reducing moisture of a material includes applying microwave radiation combined with RF to the material to heat and evacuate moisture from the material during a heating cycle and optionally alternating heating cycles with drying/cooling cycles. In particular, a method is disclosed to reduce a moisture content level of a material that comprises irradiating a portion of the material with microwave to heat and vaporize moisture therewithin during a heating cycle; combining or alternating the microwave with RF heating for a time interval during the heating cycle to reduce the moisture content level of the material; and alternating the heating cycle with a cooling cycle. In certain aspects or embodiments, the system comprises at least an enclosure, a microwave delivery device, a radio-frequency emitter and power supply.

Abstract: A modular wall panel system includes a pair of specially formed receiver strips, base and crown moldings, and a panel. The receiver strips are respectively mounted at selective upper and lower wall locations. Each receiver strip has an elongated base for mounting to the wall, and first and second flanges protruding therefrom, with each flange having a pair of apices particularly formed and located thereon. The crown and base moldings have bottom and rear surfaces, an inward facing ornate/sculpted surface, and a mating flange configured to cantilever away from the rear surface. The mating flange includes a pair of apices that are configured to be mated between the first and second flanges of the receiver strip, and be retained by its flange apices. The receiver strip also spaces the rear surface of the moldings away from the wall/studs, for the panel to be inserted behind the rear surface of each.

Each compartment is flexibly connected by one or more flexible hinge to at least one adjoining compartment and is articulate therewith. Each compartment defines one or more ports for interconnecting conductive leads between battery segments encased in adjoining compartments. Each compartment is interconnected to every other compartment, with or without one or more intervening compartment. When a battery ensemble is encased within the articulate battery case, it is rendered articulate, i.e., it acquires the articulation characteristics of the case within which it is contained.

Abstract: Disclosed is a novel wall or ceiling paneling or flooring manufactured from curved cask staves used in the aging of liquors, including wine and whiskey, having a desirable patina that emits a scent having a bouquet associated with the bouquet of the fermented liquor that was aged in the cask, as well as a method to manufacture the paneling or flooring that includes the steps of first straightening the curved staves, and then scrapping a portion of the stained surface layer of the stave to remove any splintering that may have occurred during the stave straightening process. The straightened, scraped stave is affixed to a wall or predetermined sub flooring surface with the stained surface layer remaining exposed for viewing or foot traffic and to permit the release of the wine, whiskey or other spirit bouquet into the room.

Abstract: A dry-cast concrete block is provided. The dry-cast concrete block comprises a surface to be exposed, at least a portion of the surface having a cast texture with a natural stone appearance. The cast texture may have a surface level difference of greater than 4 mm. In one example of implementation, the dry-cast concrete block may be a paving unit, in which case the surface level difference may be greater than 6 mm, such as between 6 mm and 12 mm. In another example of implementation, the dry-cast concrete block may be a wall construction unit, in which case the surface level difference may he greater than 15 mm, such as between 15 mm and 25 mm. Each of a plurality of points of the cast texture may define a respective texture angle between 75° and 90°. The cast texture may comprise at least one valley each having a respective depth greater than 4 mm. A process for manufacturing such a concrete block is also provided.

Abstract: A method is provided of laser marking a graphic design in an unassembled multi-component structure. A graphic design to be laser marked in a multi-component structure is partitioned into a plurality of graphic design sections, with each of the graphic design sections being assigned to a corresponding component of the multi-component structure. The graphic design sections are laser marked in their corresponding components of the multi-component structure while the multi-component structure is in an unassembled state. The laser-marked components are adapted for assembly together into an assembled state in which the multi-component structure has a viewable expansive surface with the graphic design sections collectively simulating an overall appearance of a graphic design spanning across the corresponding components of the multi-component structure. A kit for assembling laser-marked components into a multi-component structure is also provided.

Abstract: An irregularly-shaped building unit includes a front surface, a rear surface opposite of the front surface, and an outer contour surface that extends generally perpendicularly from the front surface to the rear surface. The outer contour surface is irregularly shaped. A plurality of mating sides are disposed on the outer contour surface, where at least two mating sides intersect with a major axis, and at least two mating sides intersect with a minor axis. The major axis and the minor axis are generally perpendicular to each other. Each mating side is a centered rotation about the respective axis that the mating side intersects with.

Abstract: Provided herein is a process for randomly patterning a plurality of carpet tiles, each tile having a composite pattern containing at least a base pattern and an overlay pattern. When installed, the random order of patterning results in random tile placement and an overall random appearance. The overlay patterns are randomly chosen from a library of patterns until each individual pattern has been used to create a tile series. The overlay patterns may be manipulated by rotating, mirror-imaging, rotating and mirror-imaging, or repositioning to produce additional variations and increase the number of tiles in the series. The base pattern may optionally be manipulated before being incorporated into the composite pattern. A tile collection, containing such randomly ordered composite patterns, is also described.

The rotational tessellation element includes at least two pairs of sides, and the sides in each pair of sides have the same length and are images of one another. The sides of the first and second pairs of sides have two or more straight line segments or complex curves, and are not a single straight line or a single curve. One pair of sides has a length different from the other pair of sides. The surface covering has a natural appearance such that a repeating pattern is not readily apparent.

Abstract: A method is provided of laser marking a graphic design in an unassembled multi-component structure. The first molding profile, whose upper surface is to form the upper surface of the molding profile assembly, has a groove formed into an under-surface of a first arm and a groove formed into a foot perpendicular to the arm. The second molding profile has first and second tabs which fit snugly into the first and second grooves of the first molding profile, respectively, interlocking the first and second molding profiles together. The molding profiles do not require scraping, stripping or other permanent alteration in order to be assembled together.

Abstract: An artificial stone is disclosed for use in creating a covering for a supporting surface. The artificial stone includes a body for placement on the supporting surface, which is shaped for mating engagement with like stones with intermediate perimeter joints to produce a continuous surface covering. The stone has a facing surface on the body, which facing surface has a contour defining a surface area and is subdivided by at least one simulated joint into a major surface portion and at least one minor surface portion. The major surface portion is free of simulated joints and extends over at least about 60% of the total surface of the facing surface. The stone further includes at least one perimeter recess in the body for generating a gap between the stone and another like stone in mating engagement therewith, which gap is wider than adjacent the adjoining perimeter joint.

Abstract: A structure to form flooring transitions having outer surfaces comprising two disparate materials. In a preferred embodiment the flooring transitions includes a T-shaped molding and at least one attachment thereto. The outer surfaces of the T-molding and attachment may be comprised of different materials, even though they may sometimes have the same pattern or décor. For example, the T-molding may have a surface of real wood or veneer and the attachment may have an outer surface of abrasion resistant foil, metal, or even a visual perception element, such as lights or reflective tape. A kit is also disclosed.

Abstract: Certain embodiments utilize carpet tiles of varying sizes and/or shapes that are connected together using connectors to form a carpet tile installation. In some instances, the carpet tiles used in the carpet tile installation have different colors, patterns, shapes, and/or styles. In some embodiments, carpet tiles of a standard size and shape, such as one-half square meter carpet tiles, are partitioned into carpet tile fractions. In certain embodiments, these carpet tile fractions are used in conjunction with larger carpet tiles in a carpet tile installation. In other embodiments, these carpet tile fractions may be connected to other carpet tile fractions to form a combination carpet tile that is then used in a carpet tile installation. Among other things, the use of different sized and/or shaped carpet tiles increases the randomness or diversity and/or improves other aspects of the appearance of the floor coverings formed by the carpet tile installations.

Abstract: A tray substrate for a modular tile flooring system is disclosed that allows installation of medallion floating tiles into the flooring system. This tray substrate is designed to be a smaller medallion type tray substrate installed amongst larger tray substrates in a shape that is twisted at an angle to the grout lines of the other tiles. This is known as a medallion which is inserted in the layout.

For example, a system for installing the decorative feature can include one or more mounts configured to attach to a support structure and support one or more decorative panels. The system can also include a plurality of decorative panels configured to be disposed within or supported by the mounts. Each decorative panel can have a concave or convex configuration to produce a wave-like appearance.

Abstract: Connectors for joining adjacent modular floor covering units. The connectors include a film and an adhesive layer coated on one side of the film. To install tiles using the connectors, a first tile is placed on the floor and a connector is positioned so that the adhesive layer faces upward and does not contact the floor. The connector is typically positioned so that only a portion of the adhesive layer adheres to the underside of the tile, leaving the remainder of the connector extending from the underside of the tile. Tiles are then positioned adjacent the first tile so that a portion of the connector adheres to the adjacent tiles. In this way, the connectors span adjacent tile edges. The tiles are assembled on a underlying flooring surface without the need to attach them to the floor surface.

The partition module may include a recess sized and shaped to receive a beam for supporting the partition structure and a plurality of alignment projections for self-alignment of the partition modules during construction.

The grooves of one tile can advantageously mate with the grooves of other identical or different grooved tiles when the intersection locations of adjacent tiles are aligned. In addition, the grooved tiles can provide the appearance of including numerous smaller individual tiles, thus eliminating the need for separately placing spacers between the tiles or first backing the tiles with mesh, netting, or paper backing prior to or during installation.

Abstract: A tray substrate for a modular tile flooring system is disclosed that allows installation of medallion floating tiles into the flooring system. This tray substrate is designed to be a smaller medallion type tray substrate installed amongst larger tray substrates in a shape that is twisted at an angle to the grout lines of the other tiles. This is known as a medallion which is inserted in the layout.

Abstract: An improved simulated authentic divided-light windows, includes an internal muntin grid structure sandwiched between the panes of a double-glazed sealed window pane, and an external muntin grid removably attached to each side of the sealed window pane. The internal grid is equipped with multiple neodymium magnets, which are embedded in the grid structure at regular intervals, while the back side of each of the outer muntin grid structures is equipped with multiple steel or iron inserts which align with the neodymium magnets when the outer grids are positioned, as intended, on the sash. Outer grids used on the inside of a building can be made of wood or plastic. Outer grids used on the exterior of building are preferably made of extruded aluminum or other weather resistant material. The steel or iron inserts are threadably secured or adhesively bonded to apertures in the back side of the grid.
