    Abstract: Multiple layers of polymer foam form structural concrete into a desired planar shape that retains a foam panel when flat or upright. The polymer foam has a planar shape and an exterior surface with multiple channels into the panel. The channels are generally wider at the bottom and narrower towards the top, preferably a trapezoidal shape. In use, the panel is placed flat within a forming frame, exterior surface upwards. Then concrete is poured upon the exterior surface and into the channels. The trapezoidal shape of the channel prevents removal of the panel from the concrete. The concrete panel can then be used flat or upright as specified for a construction project.

Structure segments are transported to a construction site in a compact orientation, manipulated to an assembled position, and then concrete is inserted into forms defined by the segments and permitted to cure.

    Abstract: An upper framed portion of a building structure may be anchored to a lower masonry wall by using a conventional concrete anchor and an anchor retainer. The anchor retainer may have a body portion longer than the width of the wall and both upper and lower reference surfaces. An anchor retainer assembly is temporarily formed by inserting the anchor through a throughhole in the retainer body so that the threaded upper portion of the anchor extends above the upper reference surface of the retainer by a first selected height, so as to leave enough of the threaded end exposed above the retainer for at least one nut to be securely attached to the anchor. No unthreaded portion of the anchor extends above the lower reference surface by more than a second amount that is generally selected to be equal to the actual thickness of the framing member, so as to ensure that no substantial unthreaded portion of the anchor can extend above that member.

    Abstract: A self-furring wire lath has stiffening trusses. In a preferred embodiment the lath comprises a grid of intersecting transverse and longitudinal wires welded at their intersections. Stiffening trusses are formed at bent sections in the transverse wires by first longitudinal wires affixed at the shoulders of the bent sections and second longitudinal wires affixed on the bent sections. A barrier layer is disposed between the first and second longitudinal wires. A building paper backing may be affixed to the barrier layer. The lath reduces cracking and wastage of stucco while remaining easy to work with.

    Abstract: The ledger mould assembly is suitable for use with a wall form assembly of the type comprising a pair of spaced-apart parallel foam panels defining therebetween a cavity for the setting of a flowable material for building an insulated wall. The ledger mould is used to receive a hardening flowable material and integrally forming a ledger to the wall. The ledger mould assembly comprises an elongated mould made of foam having a planar front face spanning from top to bottom, a tapered bottom edge and at least one flared recess in the front face, opening outwardly and upwardly from bottom to top. Mounting means are provided for horizontally mounting the mould against either one of the foam panels with the bottom down and the planar front face of the ledger mould in contact with the planar outside face of the foam panel. This set-up allows flowable hardening material to be poured from the top of the mould into the flared recesses to form a ledger once it has hardened.

    Abstract: A precast concrete slab for forming a deck in a bridge superstructure has a chamfer on forward and trailing edges so that adjacent slabs can mate. The slab is reinforced with bars which protrude laterally from the slab on opposite sides and which, in use, extend over support beams. Selected bars are formed in a castellated shape of which inverted U-shaped portions extend above the surface of the precast concrete slab. Conveniently, the U-shaped portions anchor a concrete topping which is poured over the slabs at a bridge site and also provide locations for hooking a crane used to transport the slab at a site.

    Abstract: There is provided a self-supporting insulated deck structure for buildings whereby the deck can be constructed inexpensively and efficiently and can attain a desirable fire rating in addition to improved sound absorption properties. The self-supporting insulated deck structure is made of a cementitious material and has no exposed structural steel members. Formwork for the insulated deck structure is made of integral panels formed from foam insulation members, fire retarding boards, and sound attenuating boards. The integral panels are supported on shored steel support brackets. Once the cementitious material cures, the shoring is removed as the deck structure is self-supporting. The adjacent integral panels provide the insulated deck structure with desirable fire rating and sound absorption properties.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for erecting building structures is presented. A plurality of wall panels are interconnected with each other in an array by column connectors interposed therebetween. Wall caps are then placed upon top surface portions of the wall panels and column connectors. Floor panels are then joined to the wall caps, with the floor panel forms having cavities to form headers over supporting wall panels and purlins between supporting wall panels. Rebar is placed into selected wall panels, purlins, and headers. Concrete is then deposited into selected ones of the wall panels and over the floor forms, filling the purlin and header cavities. Subsequently, a new array of wall panels and column connectors is erected on top of the poured concrete and the process is repeated to erect subsequent stories of the building.
