Patent number: 9464437Abstract: The precast I-beam concrete panels include an elongate I-beam embedded in an elongate concrete beam that has a platform or panel parallel to the upper flange of the I-beam. The I-beam is longer than the concrete beam so that opposite end portions of the I-beam project past the corresponding ends of the concrete beam. During installation, the projecting end portions of the I-beam may be seated into corresponding notches or recesses in spaced support beams. The sides of the concrete beam may be flat for abutting engagement with adjacent panels, or may be provided with opposing, stepped lip flanges for forming lap joints along longitudinal edges of adjacent panels. The sides of the precast I-beam concrete panels may be semi-parabolic, so that adjacent panels define an arch below interlocking panels. A plurality of the panels laid side-by-side and supported by the notched beams define a concrete floor or concrete foundation.Type: GrantFiled: December 9, 2015Date of Patent: October 11, 2016Inventor: Naji Mohammed Al-Failkawi

Patent number: 5941035Abstract: A concrete floor system includes the use of sheet metal pan or decking and sheet metal z-shaped closures sitting upon low profile open web steel joist providing a non-structural or structural concrete brake above the walls forming vibration damping and sound & fire barriers. The z-shaped closures have apertures formed through them which correspond to the end profiles of the joist shoes of the joists, and are fitted onto the joists before or after the joists are in place. The need for sound and vibration damping rock wool, foams and other similar material below the floor and between walls is eliminated.Type: GrantFiled: September 3, 1997Date of Patent: August 24, 1999Assignee: Mega Building System Ltd.Inventor: John A. Patent number: 5930965Abstract: There is provided a self-supporting insulated deck structure for buildings whereby the deck can be constructed inexpensively and efficiently and can attain a desirable fire rating in addition to improved sound absorption properties. The self-supporting insulated deck structure is made of a cementitious material and has no exposed structural steel members. Formwork for the insulated deck structure is made of integral panels formed from foam insulation members, fire retarding boards, and sound attenuating boards. The integral panels are supported on shored steel support brackets. Once the cementitious material cures, the shoring is removed as the deck structure is self-supporting. The adjacent integral panels provide the insulated deck structure with desirable fire rating and sound absorption properties.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 1997Date of Patent: August 3, 1999Inventor: Tommy Lee Carver

Patent number: 5598676Abstract: A hearth form is utilized for pour-forming a fireplace hearth in the absence of eventual removal thereof from an opening established by floor joists and a conventional concrete masonry unit. The hearth form is preferably constructed from two relatively slidable body portions which may be reinforced by inter-engaged parallel channels or grooves. The body portions collectively define a chamber or cavity into which concrete can be poured. A peripheral wall defined in part by side walls and front walls carry brackets for establishing a predetermined space between the hearth form and floor joists, not just for supporting the hearth form upon nails or fasteners and nail centering marks for establishing the location of fasteners to assemble the hearth form in an associated floor opening.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: February 4, 1997Inventor: Damien E. Patent number: 4660341Abstract: An open web joist system and a composite concrete structure incorporating said open web joist system wherein the top chord comprises two spaced-apart angle bars held in spaced-apart relationship by bar stock of an open web member and a closure member for blocking the downward flow of concrete between the vertical legs of the top chord. Concrete is thus enabled to flow into the groove formed by the two angle bars at the top chord and serve as a keyway to prevent longitudinal movement of the concrete with respect to the joist members. Bolts are used to suspend spanner bars for holding concrete forms in place, and these bolts pass downwardly through an opening in the closure member to the spanner bars.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 1986Date of Patent: April 28, 1987Inventor: Neal Holtz

Patent number: 4186535Abstract: The bottom flutes of a fluted deck or diaphragm of a building are fixedly attached to a horizontal load bearing member supported by vertical load resisting members. A load translation member, fixedly secured to the top flutes of the diaphragm and to the horizontal load bearing member, precludes relative movement between the top flutes en masse and the bottom flutes en masse. By precluding relative movement of the top and bottom flutes, the shear loads imposed upon the diaphragm by earthquakes and/or high winds are translated through the load translation member and the load bearing member to the vertical load resisting members.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 1978Date of Patent: February 5, 1980Assignee: Verco Manufacturing, Inc.Inventor: Virgil R.
