  • Publication number: 20140083035
Abstract: Disclosed are aspects of board finishing systems. For example, in various aspects, disclosed are joint compound compositions, wall assemblies, methods of treating walls, and products related to any of the foregoing, including reinforcement trim, e.g., for protecting corners where boards meet, fasteners, and tape. The joint compound preferably is a drying type composition with reduced shrinkage property, and includes binder and hollow spheres, resulting in an ultra lightweight formulation in some embodiments. The joint compound composition can be applied in a one-coat treatment in preferred embodiments. Other aspects of board finishing system accommodate such a one-coat treatment to thusly allow a user to manipulate the compound closer to the plane of board as compared with conventional formulations. Joint tape and reinforcement trim can include non-swelling synthetic paper facing material in some embodiments.

  • Patent number: 8122653
Abstract: An assembly for finishing an edge of an insulating concrete form wall includes at least one elongated body having two surface portions coupled together with an intermediate portion positioned between the two surface portions in a substantially parallel position. The intermediate portion is dimensioned for enclosing an end of a side panel of an insulating concrete form block and a portion of the concrete within the wall. At least one of the two parallel surface portions is dimensioned for covering a portion of the side panel proximate to the end. A plurality of retention members are positioned along the at least one elongated body. Each retention member is adapted for receiving and securing a coupling device for coupling to an internal structural support member within the concrete of the wall.

  • Patent number: 7299598
Abstract: A device for use in the installation of lightweight concrete roof systems includes a base element having a substantially flat portion and a wire tie. The wire tie extends from the base element and terminates at opposite ends which may be formed in a ring or loop. In use, the base element is mechanically fastened to the bar joist, through the steel deck, of the roof system. The terminal ends of the wire tie are secured to steel-welded wire reinforcement fabric overlying a layer of lightweight concrete, thereby securing the lightweight concrete to the steel deck of the roof system and preventing separation of the lightweight concrete due to external forces such as wind sheer.

  • Patent number: 5351455
Abstract: A method and apparatus for attaching sheets of wallboard to an EPS side panel and concrete wall assembly. A metal fastener strip is positioned against the outer surface of the outwardly facing side panels with its upper edge a predetermined distance below the ceiling line, prior to pouring of the concrete. Nails are pushed through longitudinally spaced-apart holes in the metal strip with their tips projecting well into the cavity defined between the opposed side panels. The concrete, when placed and cured, captures the nails, creating a mechanical connection to the metal strip. After the concrete is placed and cured, an adhesive is spread over the outwardly facing panels and the sheet of wallboard is placed in position. The wallboard is secured to the panels by hammering self-tapping drywall screws into the metal strip. The holes in the metal strip are countersunk to define a concentric recess around each hole, the metal strip being pushed into the side panels so that the recesses project into the panels.

  • Patent number: 4471590
Abstract: An interior wall system formed from two opposing walls. Each opposing wall is assembled from a plurality of composite wall panels, each wall panel having an exterior surface material and an interior layer of insulating material bonded to one side of the exterior surface material. Each opposing wall is anchored to top and bottom U-shaped support members and adjoining wall panels of each wall are connected by a plurality of retaining clips. The retaining clips may be adjusted in length to accommodate various widths between the opposing walls. Additionally, splines are inserted between the first and second walls along the seams between adjoining wall panels. The wall system also includes a door frame comprising first and second jamb members and a lintel member, each having a spacing member attached to approximately the center thereof. The spacing members are inserted between the opposing walls and are used to anchor the door frame in place.
