  • Patent number: 8555587
Abstract: A restoration anchoring system for use in cavity wall structures having an inner wythe and an outer wythe that requires remediation or re-anchoring is disclosed. The anchoring system employs a three-part system that is installed within the existing bed joints of the outer wythe to reattach and re-anchor the outer wythe to the structural inner wythe. The three-part system includes a helical dowel, a seismic T-clip and a reinforcement member. The helical dowel is self-threading and self-drilling. When the three-part system is installed within the outer wythe and attached to the inner wythe, the system is captively embedded in the outer wythe thereby providing a seismic construct.

The innovation of the present invention is the idea to use a conventional material (drywall, backboard, brick, precast decorative stone, ceramic tile, etc), which usually is being applied to already build monolithic concrete structure, to assemble a form in which the concrete will be poured to raise the structure itself.

  • Patent number: 7421826
Abstract: A corrugated board is secured to the inner wall of a cavity wall construction to establish a defined spacing between the inner and outer walls and prevent excess mortar from bridging to the inner wall. The corrugated board has a series of spaced channels, furrows or grooves into which an anchor projects into the studs of the inner wall to secure the outer wall. The corrugated board is installed prior to the construction of the outer wall and establishes a minimum spacing or gap between the walls based upon the thickness of the board. The outer wall is constructed immediately adjacent to the outer face of the corrugated board. The grooves or channels of the corrugated board create a chamber for vapor and air circulation. The board eliminates bridging by the mortar and provides an air conduit to exhaust even the minimal amounts of vapor that will occur in the cavity.

  • Patent number: 7415803
Abstract: A system includes a back up wall and a veneer wall spaced from the back up wall. An anchor shaft has a first end secured to the back up wall, and a second free end of the shaft projects into a space between the back up wall and the veneer wall. A wing nut has a central barrel disposed on the shaft proximate the free end. The wing nut is spaced apart from a surface of the back up wall. A first generally planar side wing extends laterally from the central barrel of the wing nut. A second generally planar side wing extends laterally from the central barrel. The first side wing includes a first opening for receipt of a first wire tie leg, and the second side wing includes a second opening for receipt of a second wire tie leg. The wing nut is independently rotatable relative to the shaft to angularly orient the wings and thus the openings as desired.

  • Patent number: 7406804
Abstract: A system consists of blocks (1) provided with grooves (19, 21) as well as joining elements (23) which are situated in the grooves for positioning the blocks with respect to each other. The block (1) has two joining sides (3, 5) for joining the blocks situated above and/or below it. Starting with a rough, undressed block, a layer of the rough block is removed from both joining sides over the whole surface, so that the joining sides (3, 5) become bearing surfaces (15, 17), which form the contact surfaces with the blocks above and below them. When dressing the rough block one makes sure that the distance (18) between the bearing surfaces (15, 17) lies within narrow tolerances of a desired value. Because of this, the blocks in a course lie precisely in a horizontal plane. The grooves (19, 21) and joining elements (23) make sure that the blocks lie precisely in a vertical plane.

Abstract: An apparatus (“chair”) for supporting one or more reinforcement bars or post-tension cables (“bars/cables”) in a concrete structure includes a base member having a centered opening, a pair of opposing first leg members extending upward from the base member at a first angle, a pair of opposing second leg members extending upward from the base member at a second angle, and a strap-shaped locking cradle. The strap-shaped locking cradle includes an arc-shaped receiving portion attached to the first and second leg members, a flexible portion suitable for wrapping over the bars/cables and a fastener to affix the flexible portion to the arc-shaped receiving portion or one of the first leg members such that transverse and vertical movement of the bars/cables is limited and longitudinal movement of the bars/cables is allowed.

  • Patent number: 7325366
Abstract: A seismic construction system for a cavity wall is disclosed. The system is shown in three exemplary applications—a masonry backup wall with ladder- or truss-type reinforcement cooperating with a snap-in wire tie; a masonry backup wall with ladder- or truss-type reinforcement with a high-span wall anchor cooperating with a low-profile, snap-in wire tie; and a drywall backup wall with internal insulation, a sheetmetal wall anchor, and snap-in wire ties. The snap-in wire ties accommodate a continuous reinforcing wire for the outer wythe, which reinforcing wire snaps into the wire housings therefor with a predetermined force. With the interconnected wall and veneer anchors and the respective reinforcing elements a seismic construct is formed.
