  • Patent number: 5014934
Abstract: A first fastener component (26) is secured to an inner aircraft skin surface (6) by a mounting flange (12) and extends across a discontinuity (8) in the skin (2). A second fastener component (28) is secured to a rib (24) on the inner surface of a resilient blade (22) and extends through the discontinuity (8) into engagement with the first component (26). Inward pressure on the blade (22) urges the components (26, 28) into releasable locked engagement with each other. The components (26, 28) secure the blade (22) in a flattened use position in which it is substantially flush with and sealingly engages the outer skin surface (4). The blade (22) may be removed by inserting a tool under it and exerting a lifting force to disengage the components (26, 28). The blade (22) may be dimensioned to cover the outer ends of adjacent fasteners (14) extending through the skin (2). The blade (22) is preferably conductive to provide a continuous electrical path along the outer skin surface (4) across the discontinuity (8).

  • Patent number: 5007221
Abstract: A snap-in glazing pocket filler is disclosed for use with a structural frame member having an unused glazing pocket. The glazing pocket filler includes an elongated metal plate having front and rear faces and being dimensioned to cover said glazing pocket. A pair of plastic retaining legs are fastened to the elongated metal plate and extend rearwardly and outwardly thereof to engage the walls of the glazing pocket. In one aspect of the invention, the plastic retaining legs are pivotably fastened to the metal plate such that when the glazing pocket filler is snapped into the glazing pocket, the legs pivot outwardly to facilitate engagement of the legs with the pocket walls. In the disclosed embodiment, the plastic retaining legs comprise rigid stems having flexible barbs projecting outwardly therefrom to engage the pocket walls. The flexible barbs and rigid stems are coextruded of flexible and rigid polyvinyl chloride.

  • Patent number: 4858398
Abstract: A prefabricated, modular building construction system uses three basic, proportioned panels, comprising rectangular wall and roof panels and triangular gable panels. The panels are secured together with simple fasteners inserted through aligned openings in adjacent edges of the panels and turned to lock them in place. The gable panels are shaped as right triangles, with the angular disposition of the hypotenuse determining the pitch of the roof and the length thereof having a specific relationship with respect to the length of the roof panels. The lengths of the other two sides also have a particular relationship to the length and width of the wall panels. Thus, the panels may be arranged in any predetermined number and size to define buildings of various sizes and shapes. Each of the panels comprises channel shaped frame members surrounding a rigid insulating core with protective and/or decorative surface layers or sheets laminated on both sides.
