Grille Panel Facer Patents (Class 52/507)
  • Patent number: 5718094
Abstract: To reduce undesirable scrap wastage in fabrication thereof, the rectangular metal frame section of a supply air register is formed from four separate side and end stampings having generally U-shaped cross sections along their lengths, and overlapping corner sections joined at both inner and outer peripheral portions of the frame structure to provide it with enhanced strength and rigidity. Side portions of the side and end stampings form in the frame structure an integral rectangular base section in which the flow rate adjustment damper blade and directional adjustment vane portions of the register are directly mounted to avoid the necessity of a separate support frame structure for these portions of the overall supply air register assembly.

Abstract: A protective grille assembly mountable over a window opening in a wall, includes a grill panel having a plurality of parallel, spaced, vertical bars fixed to a plurality of parallel, spaced, horizontal bars. The grille panel is of larger dimensions than the window opening such that the ends of the bars along at least one side project past the respective side of the window opening when the grille panel is mounted thereto. A plurality of fastening brackets mount the grille panel to the wall to cover the opening. Each bracket includes a loop section for slidably enclosing an end of a bar at the projecting side of the grille panel, and a fastening section for fastening the bracket to the wall after the loop section, while enclosing an end of a bar, has been slid along the respective bar to a location where the fastening section can be fastened to a mounting surface of the wall.

  • Patent number: 5609002
Abstract: The subject of this invention is a security window bar system containing three types of elements. The first type comprises a plurality of vertical bars, the second type comprises at least two horizontal metal plates, and the third a plurality of right angular, generally L-shaped brackets or fasteners. The vertical bars are held in place by the horizontal crossbars which have therethrough spaced openings which the vertical bars extend. Opposite ends of the horizontal crossbars are fastened to opposite sides of the window frame by the L-shaped fasteners, each of which has one leg fastened to an adjacent end of a crossbar, and the opposite leg fastened to the window framework by a one-way screw. The result is a simple, inexpensive, and easy to install window bar grid system that prevents unwanted intruders from entering the structure.

  • Patent number: 5437134
Abstract: A collapsible security grille is provided comprising two conventional face-to-face sets of rigid grille bars (2, 9) pivotally interconnected at their intersections, wherein all the pivotal connectors (4) are uniformly and non-adjustably spaced apart along their respective grille bars in one said sets, but are free, as far as the second set is concerned, to undergo small sliding displacements along the grille bars of that set. In this way the stresses that ordinarily lead to jamming, jerky action and noise are automatically compensated at the point and instant of their origin. It is preferred that the pivotal connectors around the periphery of the second set are likewise non-adjustably spaced apart, so that every such connector at a grille bar meeting point (6) (as distinct from a crossing point 8) is spaced from both of the two next adjacent crossing-point connectors (8).

The rod is moveable between an operative condition wherein an end protrudes so as to contact the ceiling panel during insertion of the diffuser in the aperture, and an inoperative condition wherein the end is retracted. The clip can thus be selectively set so as not to operate when the diffuser is installed in the aperture.

The adapter includes an elongated bar including a first flange extending laterally from an upright web portion and a second flange extending in an opposite direction of the first flange from the web. The bar is formed of a relatively flat, thin sheet metal material that is bent into the configuration such that one portion defines the first flange, another portion defines the upright web, and another portion defines the second flange. The first flange is of sufficient dimension to be received between the lighting fixture frame and the "T" rail. The fixture frame therefore secures the bar in place within the fixture opening. The upright web section includes means for receiving and mounting the lighting louver. Abstract: The invention relates to a cross-connector of plastic material for hollow profiled window grill bars introduced into the insulating space of an insulated window assembly consisting of two panes. Such a cross-connector consists of four legs positioned perpendicularly to one another and being configured such that they be inserted into the ends of the hollow profiled window grill bars in order to become fixed with these bars which are fixed to the peripheral frame of the window at their other ends. The present invention achieves the advantages of increased flexure and torsional strengths, and lower weight, while using a plastic material containing break-throughs, or alternatively, recesses. In addition, angled pins positioned oblique to the direction of insertion of the cross-connector legs result in a tighter, more permanent connection.

  • Patent number: 4644721
Abstract: The present invention is a fastener system and method of using a fastener for removably securing bar grilles in window and door frames. A fastener having a tip or point at one end is inserted between a glass and a frame. The fastener has a pair of fins extending substantially perpendicularly from one surface and away from the glass. When appropriate mechanical forces are applied, the fins are bendable toward each other and have a tendency to return to their approximate original position after the forces are released. A slot is provided in the surface of a bar grille which comes into contact with the glass. The bar grille is snapped on the fastener so that the fins are forced toward each other as they enter the slot and are hooked into position as the fins return to their approximate original position. The bar grille may be removed by pulling on the grille so that fins disengage from the slot.
