  • Patent number: 11784387
Abstract: Embodiments provide tower-mountable base station antenna enclosure systems to reduce effective wind loads of housed antenna components. The enclosure systems can include wind deflection radomes sized to house antenna components and mountable to tower structures by rotatable couplings. For example, embodiments can have a rotational axis that is substantially transverse to primary wind directions, and the wind deflection structures can be mounted in a manner that permits substantially free rotation around the axis. Such enclosure systems can reduce the wind load of the antenna as deployed on a tower, such that a smaller marginal structural impact can be attributed to deployed antenna components, and the antenna components can be considered as smaller structural loads on the tower.

Abstract: An antenna tower is provided having one or more antennae at the removed end thereof, which tower is configured for ease of maintenance of the antenna by a serviceman standing on the ground and servicing the antenna. Applicants' antenna tower includes a fixed vertical base or mast tube, fixed to the ground and having a removed end. At or near the removed end of the base tube, a swing tube is pivotally attached. The swing tube has a first end removably coupled to a near end of the base tube, and a removed end extending beyond the removed end of the base tube. Attached to the removed end of the swing tube is a pivotally mounted configured member or pivot tube. The pivotally mounted elongated member receives an antenna thereupon. The pivot tube is removably coupled to the swing tube to allow the pivot tube to rotate.

Abstract: An embeddable breakaway utility pole comprises separate upper and lower aluminum pole pieces, wherein the lower pole piece is to be embedded below ground surface. The upper and lower pole pieces are interconnected by a weld which defines a breakaway zone enabling the upper pole piece to break off the lower pole piece in response to vehicular impact. The weld can be connected to a backer ring which provides a guide surface that axially aligns the pole pieces. Alternatively, the pole can be formed of a single pole piece which is welded between its ends to form a weakened region that defines the breakaway zone.

Abstract: A method of constructing a tower structure by assembling a set of coaxial telescopic sections 2, 3a, 3b in position on site and then raising the assembled sections using hydraulic crawler jacks 8 and tendons 5. The telescopic sections are assembled or constructed in situ, starting with the inner section and then each subsequent section around the outside of the previously constructed sections. Each individual tower section may be cast in situ or assembled from multiple pre-fabricated segments. This method permits the construction of very tall structures while obviating the need for very large cranes. It also removes the design constraints on the height of the individual telescopic sections.
