  • Patent number: 8220219
Abstract: A reinforcing assembly to address this problem comprises a plurality of diagonal working members (preferably formed of #3 rebar) each of which is “ribbed” to provide increased surface area for bonding to the concrete, and each of which is attached to a horizontal runner independently such that the diagonal working members are variably spaced along the assembly. Relative to the horizontal runner, each diagonal member is “bent” at a given angle, preferably in the range of 45° plus or minus 25°. The reinforcing assembly is designed for use to provide punching shear reinforcement in a reinforced concrete structure such as, without limitation, a slab (in which the assembly is supported) located adjacent a structural column. The top of each diagonal member in the reinforcing assembly preferably comprises a double hook that is configured to fit within reinforcing bars that run along the top of the slab.

  • Patent number: 8202596
Abstract: In accordance with the disclosed principles, a novel thermoplastic profile roofing strip and an apparatus for welding the thermoplastic profile roofing strip to a thermoplastic roofing membrane is disclosed. In one embodiment, the thermoplastic profile roofing strip may comprise a horizontal base extending longitudinally and having a notched profile. In addition, the thermoplastic profile strip may comprise a vertical central portion laterally connected at one edge and normal to the horizontal base. In such embodiments, the vertical central portion extends longitudinally along the horizontal base to provide the improved profile. Related methods of welding a thermoplastic strip to a thermoplastic membrane are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7870703
Abstract: A bolster for use in construction has a beam, a pair of spaced apart foot members, a first plurality of leg members on one side of the beam, and a second plurality of leg members on an opposite side of the beam. The first plurality of leg members are connected at one end to the beam and at the opposite end to one of the pair of spaced apart foot members. The second plurality of leg members are connected at one end to the beam and at the opposite end to the other of the pair of spaced apart foot members. The beam, pair of spaced apart foot members and first and second pluralities of leg members are integrally formed together of a polymeric material. Multiple lengths of bolster may be joined together in a snap-fit engagement.

  • Publication number: 20100180534
Abstract: A support peg for a reinforcing bar is formed from sheet metal bent to define two plates each extending from a bend line outwardly to a side edge of the body. The plates combine to form a peg portion along the bend line which can be hammered into the ground with a bottom point and a coterminous top hammering edge. One or both of the plates has a side portion standing outwardly from a side edge of the plate portion thereof and defining a bottom shoulder of the side portion facing downwardly for engaging the ground and acting as a depth gauge when the peg is driven into the ground. One or both of the side portions has a receptacle at the top or side edge for receiving a reinforcing bar and for supporting the reinforcing bar on the side portion at a position spaced from the ground.

  • Publication number: 20100162654
Abstract: The invention relates to a device which is coupled to a standard conventional disk or lateral type spacer and which can be used to fix it to a relatively soft material into which the device is stick in, by pushing the device against a reference surface, which may be an adjoining wall or any form, thereby ensuring: the correct positioning of the structural elements to which the spacer is fixed, and therefore, the thickness of the concrete layer between said structural elements and the reference surface, which can provide insulation or serve as a construction joint; and hence the correct position and operation of the panel or wall of soft material serving as a construction joint or as a thermal or sound insulation material.

  • Patent number: 6637171
Abstract: According to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, an apparatus and method for suspending rebar is disclosed. The rebar isolator of the present invention comprises a pointed metal spike or stake with one or more hollow-bodied rebar supports. Each of the hollow-bodied rebar supports has a support arm which supports the horizontally-positioned rebar. In addition, the spike or stake portion of the rebar isolator has a number of crimped zones which prevent the support arms from shifting downward or rotating in place when the concrete is poured over the horizontally-positioned rebar. The number of crimped zones corresponds to the number of hollow-bodied cylindrical rebar isolator supports and one crimped zone is located immediately below each of the support arms.

  • Patent number: 4948943
Abstract: Self-supporting raised floor plates of flat construction, with an outside wrapper consisting of a flat metal shell which is open at the top for a mineral, age-hardenable filler material, for instance anhydrite, are known. However, with such raised floor plates of flat construction, the embedding of an electric heating line in the layer of mineral material so that the heating line is found without interference in the statically neutral zone of the raised floor plate is problematic. The invention overcomes this problem in that the heating line is fastened to holders arranged over the bottom of the shell. These holders are fastened by clamping by means of a plug-like member in selected anchoring openings in the bottom of the shell. The heating line is clipped or respectively snapped into slots in the head segments of the holders.
