The structure is formed by creating a pair of exterior walls from horizontal members and a series of laterally spaced vertical members that are coupled to the horizontal members by truss plates. The structure also includes a series of laterally spaced rectangular ribs that are coupled to the exterior walls by additional truss plates. The ribs and the walls are further coupled by use of wood sheeting along the top of the structure to form the resultant assembly. The entire assembly is connected together with a series of bolt and steel angle connectors, allowing the entire module to act monolithically.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 16, 2009Publication date: April 8, 2010Inventors: Charles Roig, Daniel Roig

Publication number: 20100077694Abstract: A frame member fastening device and method of manufacture provides a single configuration fastening device which can be used singly in connection with a frame member, or which can be combined with another identical fastening device to form a fastening device assembly for use with frame members of different internal widths, by interlocking two identical fastening devices in an opposed, base-to-base assembly configuration. The fastening device is manufactured in a progressive metal forming process with successive stages in which the features of the device are formed.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 30, 2008Publication date: April 1, 2010Inventors: Mark QUINTILE, Michael Bittner, Dale Maynard

Publication number: 20100071306Abstract: A vertical reinforcing bracket for an insulated concrete form wall includes: a formed rigid material of sufficient strength that is shaped to add stiffness and assist in accurate placement of vertical reinforcement within the formwork. Openings are formed in the embedded tongue portion of the bracket to aid in the accurate positioning of vertical reinforcement within the insulated concrete formwork wall to reduce thermal bridging and to accommodate other building attachments or strengthening features of the bracket. Although the preferred embodiment of the patent uses steel, alternative materials with satisfactory structural properties may be substituted. The reinforcing bracket is intended mainly for use in correctly locating vertical reinforcement near ends of walls and along the sides of openings in walls constructed in insulated concrete forms. In addition, reinforcing brackets anchored in the hardened concrete by the reinforcing bars may be utilized to attach and support other building elements.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2009Publication date: March 25, 2010Inventors: Kenneth Richard Williams, Cooper Edward Stewart, Robert George Drysdale

Patent number: 7677504Abstract: A cutter clip and methods for installing a gutter cover onto a gutter system are disclosed. The gutter clip includes a mouth portion sized to provide an interference fit between the gutter cover and the mouth portion of the clip which stationarily secures the gutter cover to the gutter clip. The gutter clip is further provided with a mounting portion that fastens to the lip of a gutter. Once assembled, the gutter clip of the present invention provides minimum horizontal and vertical tolerances between the gutter and the gutter cover, such that water may flow freely into the gutter channel, but does not permit debris to be lodged therein.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2006Date of Patent: March 16, 2010Assignee: R & B Wagner, Inc.Inventors: Patrick William Hutchinson, Mel Freitag, Timothy G. Publication number: 20100050561Abstract: A universal metal stud clip is a support mechanism for securing one or more electrical boxes or other construction components to metal construction elements such as metal studs. The opposed spring arm design permits the clip to be oriented in any useful way and frictionally secured to metal studs of varying dimensions. Metal stud clips include one or more pair of resilient arms to frictionally engage metal studs. Using two or more pair of resilient arms provides a very stable attachment to the metal stud.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 26, 2008Publication date: March 4, 2010Inventor: Afshin Jafari

Publication number: 20100043316Abstract: An improved building structure and method for making steel frame buildings includes a beam-to-column or beams-to-column joint or connection which is most preferably shop fabricated (as opposed to on-site fabrication) and which offers a considerable savings in both steel requirements (i.e., material savings) and labor to make the joint connection. Also, because material utilization is improved in the connection, the new structure is more resistant to damage by seismic events (i.e., earthquake), by severe weather, and to damage from blast effects (i.e., terrorist attack or accident), than was the prior technology. The improved building structure also mitigates against progressive collapse of the building.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 21, 2008Publication date: February 25, 2010Inventor: Jesse E. Karns

Patent number: 7661511Abstract: Perforations of a board for building material are formed by a number of recesses (13), or a number of recesses (13) and through-holes (12). A bottom face (16) of the recess forms a face for screwing or driving the fixing element (70) thereto. A color of the bottom face is set to have a brightness of color decreased in comparison with a color of a surface (18) of the board. A substrate of the board is a gypsum board and the bottom face of the recess is formed by a liner paper for gypsum board. According to such a board, a region for screwing or driving the fixing element thereto can be ensured without impairing regularity, uniformity or architectural design of the perforations, and putty finishing or the like for an exposed part of the fixing element can be omitted.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2005Date of Patent: February 16, 2010Assignee: Yoshino Gypsum Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tomoya Hasegawa, Yasuyuki Amagai, Shoichi Okazaki, Masahiro Wada

Patent number: 7647739Abstract: A suspended ceiling construction includes fill-in panels, diffusers and/or light fixtures which are retained in their openings by spring clips that have been pre-attached to the ceiling grid frame members. The clips bear against edges of the panels to keep them in place normally, but they can be deflected out of the way by pushing up on the panels when necessary. As the tips of the clips contact the frame members during deflection, they provide increasing resistance to further deflection.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2008Date of Patent: January 19, 2010Inventor: Augustus Ray Boyd
