Abstract: A new inner passageway through a pre-cast concrete structure damaged by corrosion may be formed by stackable inserts formed of polymer concrete. The inserts may be stacked in the old passageway through the pre-cast concrete structure such that an inner surface of the stacked inserts forms a new passageway through the pre-cast concrete structure. A grout may be poured between an outer surface of the stacked inserts and an inner surface of the pre-cast concrete structure forming the old passageway. The surfaces of the stackable inserts may have superior resistance to corrosive acids such that the need for future repair is greatly reduced. Suitable pre-cast concrete structures for rehabilitation include pre-cast concrete structures utilized in wastewater systems, including manholes and other similar structures. In this manner, the damaged pre-cast concrete structures do not need to be removed during the rehabilitation.

The self-leveling grout is placed within the foundation grout trough as an initial slurry having a viscosity at ambient temperature approximately the same as the viscosity of known grout slurries utilized in turbine foundations. After placement in the grout trough, elevated temperature is applied to the grout slurry, which lowers the viscosity of the slurry such that the slurry becomes self-leveling and the top surface assumes a nearly perfectly level surface. Additional elevated temperature is applied which initiates the curing of the grout to the required compressive strength for supporting the turbine tower.

The assembly provides one or two walls, at lease one of which has an outer fastener-free surface. Additionally, the fastener-free surface may be made substantially smooth and seamless. The walls are arranged in planar congruence, separated by internal spacers or studs, and vertically positioned between the overhead and floor of the room space to be partitioned. Removable tracks or spacers at the top and bottom of the wall assembly serves to interface the wall assembly with the floor and ceiling of the space. The walls are constructed of either finished or unfinished wall panels (e.g., fabric covered or sheet rock panels) which are incorporated into the assembly using a combination of removable fasteners and releasable adhesives. The finished or exposed area of a wall surface includes no fasteners.

Abstract: A curtain wall system and method comprises supporting channels including vertical receiving and retaining members which engage kerfs formed in the lower edges of curtain wall members. Latching members have locating and retaining members which are received in kerfs form in the upper edges of the curtain wall members. The curtain wall members are rotated inwardly causing the latching members to slide along the under surfaces of the supporting channels and into engagement with locking members. A second embodiment comprises supporting channels and latching members having spaced apart vertically disposed locating members which receive the opposite ends of the curtain wall members. A third embodiment comprises gap filling members which are received between adjacent curtain wall members and comprise hooks located adjacent to the lower ends of the gap filling members for engagement with vertically disposed receiving and retaining members extending upwardly from supporting channels.

  • Patent number: 7044170
Abstract: A method of making a grout composition which reduces the amount of bleed water from grout used in bonded post-tensioned concrete applications is provided. The method includes forming the grout composition by combining copolymers with other materials into a hydraulic cementitious composition. The copolymers are formed from structural components a) to c) and optionally d) which are mono-unsaturated compounds, with a generally linear macromolecular structure. By reducing the amount of bleed water in bonded post-tensioned concrete applications the grout composition provides protection from corrosion for the steel members, including stranded tendons and solid bars. The reduction in the amount of bleed water is achieved without significantly increasing the viscosity of the grout mixture thereby allowing good pumpability, placement, and maintenance of other properties such as resistance to volume change, long working time and acceptable strength development.

Abstract: A tile grout composition and method of using the tile grout composition to grout set tiles are provided. The tile grout composition is a water-based epoxy grout composition which has excellent stain and chemical resistant properties and is workable and easy to clean up after grouting the tiles. The grout composition employs a water dispersible epoxy polymer and a water compatible polyamine epoxy resin adduct as the curing agent in combination with a water repellent component. For colored grouts, a color coated filler such as sand is employed to obtain the enhanced tile grout properties. Luminescent and fluorescent additives and sparkle additives may be used in the grout to provide special visual effects in the light or dark.
