Abstract: A lightweight interior sidewall and a method for fabricating the same are provided. The lightweight interior sidewall is formed by a plurality of adjacent slabs. A method for fabricating the slabs includes forming a concrete block made of cement, fine sand, bamboo-shaped short fibers and a lightweight aggregate material, cutting the block to form multiple slabs, and grinding a central region of two sides of each slab to form a longitudinal groove therein. The method for fabricating the lightweight interior sidewall includes disposing multiple slabs adjacent to each other, securing each slab between a reverse U-shaped clamp on the ceiling and a support element on the floor, and filling a cement mortar into the longitudinal grooves to bind the slabs together. The lightweight and robust sidewall can be thereby formed in an efficient manner.

  • Publication number: 20090301030
Abstract: A construction system utilizes a plurality of pre-manufactured units to form a concrete wall. Structurally, each pre-manufactured unit includes a wallboard mounted to an insulation board. Specifically, each wallboard has a first surface and an opposite second surface parallel thereto. For each wallboard, the insulation board is mounted to the second surface of the wallboard and extends to a face substantially parallel to the surfaces. In addition to the pre-manufactured units, the system comprises a temporary backing frame constructed from commercially-available aluminum forms which establish a wall. Also, the system includes a plurality of ties for supporting the units at a desired distance from the backing frame to establish a cavity for receiving concrete to form the concrete wall. After the concrete wall is formed, the backing frame is removed and the pre-manufactured units remain bonded to the wall.

  • Patent number: 7596922
Abstract: An apparatus and method for coupling separate series or stacks of structural or shear walls of a multistory building are disclosed. The method comprises constructing a plurality of stacks of shear walls and attaching a rigid coupling member to the top of at least two of the stacks of shear walls between the stacks such that the walls are connected to the rigid coupling member and move together with the coupling member. The apparatus is a rigid coupling member, which may be a beam, such as an I-beam or rectangular beam, made from poured concrete and reinforcing steel. The coupling member may also be a wall of poured concrete and reinforcing steel. The attached rigid member acts to connect the tops of independent stacks of shear walls typically used to build multistory buildings, thereby creating a flexural moment at the top of the building that helps the building resist lateral loads.

In order to install the viscous vibration-damping wall 1, a flange of a lower-floor girder 3 is provided with base-plate connecting portions and a pair of flange connecting plates 7, and the base plate 8 and the flange plates 11 are connected thereto, and the intermediate plate 13 is directly connected to a gusset plate 12 fixed to a flange of an upper-floor girder 4. Consequently, the dispersion of the stress is rationalized, and the reduction of constituent members is attained.

  • Patent number: 6637167
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of construction of a wall from first, second and end modules each forming part of the wall. The method includes assembly of two modules being first, end or first and end modules having portions forming part of the wall by aligning these modules in a desired alignment and connecting them together with connection means to form a supporting structure for second modules. The connection means has a tie portion generally extending in the direction of the alignment. The tie portion has a portion corresponding with connection portions of a second module and cooperation of the corresponding tie portion, extending between guides formed as part of the tie portion, with the connection portions connects the second module to the supporting structure. In such manner, a portion of a wall may be constructed. Use of mortar of scaffolding and concrete pouring techniques may thus be avoided in construction of a structure.

Abstract: A method for constructing a column and panel concrete fence which includes two or more columns, each of which comprises two portions which are separated from one another along one or more planes that are essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the column. A first half of a column is placed upon each of two or more footings. Then the ends of concrete panels which run between successive columns are placed upon such footings. Preferably, the panels are composed of two or more panel units which are mirror images of one another. Next a second half of each column is placed upon each of the footings. And, as a final step, concrete is poured into the resultant column.
