  • Patent number: 4915056
Abstract: A V-shaped hopper is comprised of a pair of opposing linkages each formed of a lower angularly disposed rectangular plate hinged to an upper angularly disposed rectangular plate to form a hinged corner joint. Each linkage is mounted on a vertical sidewall of a rectangular opening with the bottom of its lower rectangular plate pivotally connected to the bottom thereof and with the top of its upper rectangular plate confined by retaining means thereon to move along the vertical plane thereof. Limiting means is also provided to limit the downward movement of opposing linkages when their hinged corner joints lie adjacent to each other. Upon dropping a plurality of dough balls into the V shaped hopper formed by the upper rectangular plates of the opposing linkages, one settles in the V bottom thereof and the others thereover.

  • Patent number: 4802941
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for making webs, mats and the like of reed-like plastic straws (H), by which straw chains (K) of parallel, adjacent straws of unequal length are applied like scales on a support sheet (13). To achieve a fully automated manufacturing process, straws (H1) of equal length are first produced and arranged side by side, in parallel, to form a row (R). They are then attached together along their aligned ends and preferably also, along at least one longitudinal line dividing the row of straws widthwise, with adhesive tape (8) extending in the lengthwise direction of the row. Thereafter, if desired, the straw row (R) is cut into partial rows (T) along the longitudinal lines covered by tape.

  • Patent number: 4739603
Abstract: There is disclosed a simulated thatched roofing which closely approximates the appearance and durability of thatched roofs. The roof structure includes a supporting roof structure formed of a roof frame and a base underlayment and a natural or synthetic fiber outer covering laid thereover which is formed of a base sheet, which can be woven or unwoven fabric, with or without a laminated layer of a synthetic resin, or can be a layer of a natural or synthetic resin in which a plurality of discontinuous loops of a synthetic or natural, raw bast or leaf fiber are embedded. The loops are cut to the ends of the fibers as tufts which are closely spaced across the entire surface of the roof covering, and which simulate the cut ends of reeds used in traditional roof thatching.

  • Patent number: 4611451
Abstract: A shingle formed from a sheet of thin metal such as aluminum having a narrow border portion and a plurality of strips of various lengths depending from the border. The shingles are attached to a roof by nailing through the border portion such that the strips overlap the border portions of adjacent shingles thereby producing a simulation of a natural thatched roof.

  • Patent number: 4115970
Abstract: An intersection cap for covering the ends of a plurality of pieces of grid celing trim mounted on grid ceiling supports where such supports intersect, usually at right angles, includes a base member, usually cruciform in shape, but sometimes readily convertible to T-shape, for covering the horizontal surfaces of the trim and of any exposed support, wall members extending upwardly from the base member, for covering the sides of the trim and of any exposed support and opposed retainers located at tapered portions of the walls at the ends thereof and beyond the base member which readily, yet firmly, snap fasten onto the trim. Also described is the injection molding of such intersection caps in which the mold parts are moved together in simple linear relative motion to obviate the employment of complex mold part motions to form suitable retainers integral with the walls of the intersection cap.

  • Patent number: 4023321
Abstract: A roofing shingle consisting of an upper layer of composition roofing material, a lower layer of waterproof roofing felt, and an intermediate layer spacing the upper and lower layers apart, all of the layers being firmly bonded together. The intermediate layer may function to provide a dead-air space for purposes of heat insulation, or may consist of tubular members permitting free circulation of air between the upper and lower layers. The composite structure of the shingle gives it a bending strength highly resistant to curling or other damage by high wind, and the lower layer may be extended to underlie adjacent shingles in the same course, so as to provide a waterproof under-layer for the upper layers.
