Abstract: A unit masonry fence and method for its installation. The unit masonry fence has footings, structurally rigid support posts extending upwardly from the footings and fence panels mounted over the support posts and supported by the footings. Each fence panel is made up of a beam extending generally the length of the panel and having a receptacle toward the ends thereof for receiving the support posts. A number of unit masonry courses are laid on the beam. The unit masonry courses terminate at each end with a pilaster made from pilaster masonry units laid integrally. The pilaster masonry units have a main body portion broader than the adjacent unit masonry courses and an opening extending through the body portion for receiving the support posts.

  • Patent number: 5475960
Abstract: Where a structural frame has elongated spaced parallel framing members therein, longitudinally extending edges of which are substantially coplanar with one another on one side of the frame, boards of wood facing material are superimposed on the edges of the framing members, and interlocked with one another, as well as with the framing members, at male/female joints formed therebetween along parallels to the right angular coordinates of the frame in the plane of the edges. The joints take the form of tongue and groove joints, and in the case of those between the boards and the framing members, the joints are also dovetailed. Certain improvements in sheet metal clad wood facing materials are also shown, as is a process for making boards of sheet metal clad wood facing material from planks of wood which are only partially dried when they are put to use in the process.

Abstract: A wall construction for display booths, sales booths and the like has two profiled braces extending parallel and at a distance from each other and have grooves which are engaged from behind in their narrow long sides. At least two support members have been hooked into the lower profiled brace on which a wall panel rests in an upright position. Tilting of the wall panel is prevented by means of an upper retaining member. The support member as well as the retaining member have a U-shaped cross-sectional form, respectively formed by a back part and two legs extending from the back part. One of the legs is inserted into the groove which is engaged from behind of the respective profiled brace, while the other leg engages a groove in the wall panel.

  • Patent number: 5247773
Abstract: A simplified building structure that can be extruded out of plastic to be used as inexpensive substitutes for walls, ceilings, roofs, posts, and other structural components. The structure includes elongated male and female means to connect two of the structural components together securely, either by longitudinally inserting one into the other or by snapping the male component transversely into the female component. For this purpose, the male component has resilient flanges that can be forced into a female slot, thereafter to spring apart to engage overhanging parts of juxtaposed edges of the slot to lock the two components rigidly together. Preferably, the flanged male spline is formed on top of a ridge, the side edges of which engage the juxtaposed edges of the female slot to prevent any transverse movement of one of the components relative to the other.

Abstract: In a building facade covering comprised of a profiled rail support frame and covering panels connected thereto, the vertically extending profiled rails have brackets onto which the respective covering panel with an edge surface recessed behind the panel front face is placeable. Each profiled rail has two vertically extending hollow boxes in which inserted holding elements are horizontally slidable parallel to the covering panel plane and which protrude with a hook-shaped end. The neighboring vertical side edges of two respective covering panels are connected to a common profiled rail in such a manner that the hook-shaped ends of the holding elements are inserted into the receiving pockets of the covering panels by horizontally sliding them within the hollow boxes, the receiving pockets being arranged at vertical side edges of the covering panels at edge surfaces recessed behind the panel front face.

  • Patent number: 5094052
Abstract: A building construction includes a wall, floor or ceiling assembly wherein a pair of walls or the like each include adjacent wallboards having edge formations defining a mating tongue and groove configuration. The wall pairs are supported in a stable manner by metal posts having a variety of edge flange configurations and which are captively secured within the confines of each wallboard tongue and groove joint. Tight joints between adjacent wallboards and the posts are insured by the formation of one or more kerfs in the area of the wallboard joints and which engage portions of the entrapped posts to provide enhanced rigidity throughout the wall height. By angling the post edge flanges outwardly and providing correspondingly angled wallboard kerfs, maximum structural integrity is achieved with use of minimum thickness wallboards.

Abstract: A concrete masonry ("CM") block wall cladding using specially configured CM veneer blocks is applied to a substrate wall such as the exterior wall of a building. Horizontally extending support means are mounted on the substrate wall(s) and a plurality of elongated battens are secured to the substrate wall at laterally spaced intervals and extending vertically above such horizontally extending support means; a plurality of CM veneer blocks are vertically supported by the horizontally extending support means with portions of the CM blocks being secured to adjacent laterally spaced battens, thereby mounting the CM veneer blocks on the substrate wall to form a CM veneer block wall cladding. A multi-story CM block veneer wall cladding construction for a multi-story building may be similarly constructed by using a plurality of horizontally extending support means mounted on the substrate wall at vertically spaced invervals so as to support a section of the CM block wall cladding of suitable height.
