Abstract: A steel structural member is secured to a vertical cast concrete member or wall by a connector system including a fabricated steel receiver embedded within the wall. Embedded anchors are attached to the receiver which has upper and lower front wall portions flush with the concrete wall and define a front opening. A support bracket has a horizontal plate attached to the beam and a vertical plate which fits through the front opening within the receiver. The bracket is attached to the beam which is then elevated, and the vertical plate is inserted through the opening into the receiver. The beam and vertical plate are then shifted downwardly until opposite upper and lower edge portions of the vertical plate are blocked by the front wall portions of the receiver. In the illustrated embodiment, the front opening and vertical plate are generally rectangular with the opening wider than the plate.

Abstract: To avoid the rotation of a sleeve, providing an enhanced joint force. A reinforcing bar joint 1 according to the present invention includes an elliptic-sectioned sleeve 2, a load transfer rod 3 to be inserted through the sleeve, and wedging means 4. The sleeve 2 is configured so that end portions of reinforcing bars 5a, 5b can be inserted into openings 6a, 6b formed in respective ends of the sleeve 2 so that the reinforcing bars are arranged in series along an identical line. The load transfer rod 3 can also be inserted therethrough in parallel with the end portions of the reinforcing bars 5a, 5b which are inserted into the sleeve 2.

Abstract: A beam comprised of sub-components capable of extending or contracting in overall length is provided. The beam consists of a twin-beam structure that provides travel support for two end beam components that are movable with respect to one another to extend or contract the length of the resulting variable length beam. Extension or contraction of the variable length beam can be accomplished manually or, in a preferred embodiment, by means of a screw drive. The variable length beams facilitate the fabrication of reusable, adjustable width deck-forming panels used in the construction of cast-in-place bridge deck slabs supported by parallel structural beams.
