Sinuous Curve Type Patents (Class 52/856)
  • Patent number: 9021759
Abstract: A grid runner and method of its manufacture that saves material content with use of a serpentine sheet metal web configured to be essentially scrapless and that results in a parallel chord truss-like construction with open spaces between an upper reinforcing bulb and a lower flange.

  • Patent number: 8915046
Abstract: Disclosed a reinforcement structure for reinforced concrete and methods for manufacturing thereof. In one aspect, the reinforcement structure includes a rod comprising a spiral strip having a pitch between 1.0 and 10.0 times a width of the strip and a ratio of thickness of the strip to the width of the strip in a range of 1:4 to 1:10. The surface of the spiral strip may be entirely or partially corrugated with ribs of arbitrary shape and having height in a range of 0.05% to 0.30% of the thickness of the strip. In another aspect, method for manufacturing a reinforcement structure comprises flattening a wire rod into a flat strip, corrugating it with ribs, and twisting the ribbed strip into a spiral of the specified pitch.

  • Patent number: 8176710
Abstract: A frame extender for attachment to a stud is formed as an L-shaped body having two orthogonal legs, a short leg and a long leg. The short leg serves as a mounting surface to which a wall surfacing material can be attached, while the long leg is fastened to the stud. The long leg terminates in an outer edge which preferably has a toothed profile. An indexing mark is provided on the long leg, extending parallel to the short leg and spaced apart therefrom, and substantially traversing the long leg. The indexing mark is preferably provided by a discontinuity in the surface of the long leg that is placed against the stud. A preferred method for fabricating the frame extenders uses stock that can be pressed or extruded, and which is cut along a serpentine path to form a pair of frame extenders.

  • Patent number: 8171696
Abstract: A metal stud including first and second metal panels defining first and second flat surfaces with longitudinal edges each turned inwardly away from the flat surfaces. The first and second panels are positioned in parallel spaced apart relationship with the first flat surface and the second flat surface being outwardly directed relative to each other. An angular metal coupling element includes a continuous length of metal material periodically bent in opposite directions. The coupling element is positioned between the first and second panels and bent to periodically and alternately contact the first and second panels at contact points. The coupling element is fixed to the first and second panels at the contact points by spot welding or the like.

  • Patent number: 8141318
Abstract: The metal truss assembly disclosed herein is made from generally U-shaped metal chords and multiple generally S-shaped web members extending between the chords. A typical truss assembly has a pair of elongated, opposed, diverging metal upper chords and a lower chord, with the chords each forming generally U-shaped channels defining an interior chord space. A plurality of elongated metal web members extend between the upper and lower chords, with each of the web members extending into the interior space of an upper chord and the lower chord and attached to the chords. The web members, as taught herein, have a generally S-shaped cross-section. The shape of the web members is an advancement of prior art web members.
