Patent number: 6134861Abstract: A building system and apparatus for forming a wall. U-shaped channels and H-shaped or T-shaped members coupled at their sides by rigid links hold foam panels in a desired spaced relationship. Vertically oriented panels aligned and connected by T-shaped members or horizontally oriented panels stacked with and connected by H-shaped members are inserted into the U-shaped channels to form a structure of the desired length. Concrete is poured between the panels and members where it hardens to form a structural wall. The planar surfaces of the U-shaped, H-shaped and T-shaped members enable the members to be extruded, or roll formed, thereby substantially reducing member production costs. Furthermore, widely available conventional foam panels can be used, reducing panel production costs.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 1999Date of Patent: October 24, 2000Inventor: Gerald T. Spude

Patent number: 6125597Abstract: A skirting system for manufactured residential and commercial building structures. The skirting system having a plurality of precast concrete panels which are disposed around the base perimeter of the manufactured building. The top end of the panels are restrained between two vertically disposed members extending around the perimeter of the manufactured building. The bottom end of the panels rest on and are restrained by a plurality of set blocks. The set blocks are held in position by anchor rods inserted through apertures in the set block and into the soil. The edges of the panels are sealed with a bead of caulking. Soil is then placed against the exterior of the panels to assist in restraining the panels and to give the appearance of a cast-in-place concrete foundation wall. The precast panels may include a layer of foam insulation and the panels may also include an opening for receiving an automatic vent. Rather than using set blocks, the bottom of the panels may rest on a frost footing or concrete slab.Type: GrantFiled: November 24, 1997Date of Patent: October 3, 2000Inventors: Keith M. Hoffman, Bradley G. Hoffman, Rikel M. Hoffman, Eric F. Horlyk

Patent number: 5771641Abstract: A rodent pest infestation prevention assembly includes a wall for surrounding a predetermined area so as to enclose items, a plurality of top and bottom slits in the wall for making interlocking connection with one another for fastening end portions of the wall together so as to make the wall a substantially continuous structure about an item, and at least one holder member for maintaining the wall in an upright position. The wall may also have a plurality of spaced apart holes formed therein. At least one mateable bolt and nut combination are installed through aligned holes to secure overlapped end portions of the wall to one another and thereby serve the same function as the top and bottom slits of the wall. Each holder member has a base and a pair of elongated pegs. The base has a transverse groove and a pair of recessed holes on adjacent opposite sides of the groove. The groove is for receiving a bottom edge of the wall therein.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 1996Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Inventor: Bill Morris, III

Patent number: 4241554Abstract: A decorative skirting panel system for mobile homes and the like is formed with adjacent panels having a vertically slidable side edge interlock wherein a particular panel may be easily removed for replacement, repair, or access without detachment of adjacent panels. The panel is preferably formed of expanded polystyrene foam and is provided with an exterior surface simulating masonry such as brick, stone, tile or other such construction material. The side edge interlock is of a V-shaped tongue-and-groove construction. This configuration provides a minimum surface area for a given width and depth of tongue and groove, thereby reducing friction and facilitating the removal or insertion of a panel by vertical sliding movement. The V-shaped tongue and groove is especially well suited to this application since it is not prone to binding in the case of dimensional inhomogeneities and the like.Type: GrantFiled: September 6, 1978Date of Patent: December 30, 1980Assignee: Kool Foam Products, Inc.Inventor: Dick S. Patent number: 4107888Abstract: Retractable skirting for selectively enclosing the space between the floor and ground of a structure supported above the ground surface. The skirting includes a plurality of panels mounted for vertical reciprocating movement between a first position in which the panels are stored within storage space defined in the structure side walls and a second position in which the panels are lowered into ground contact. The skirting is particularly applicable to mobile homes in which the storage space may be defined by the mobile home wall and exterior siding. The skirting panels are stored for travel and lowered when the mobile home reaches a stationary site. The panels are entirely concealed during travel in a storage space that provides maximum ground clearance for the mobile home.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1977Date of Patent: August 22, 1978Inventor: Lynn A. Patent number: 4010963Abstract: A skirt for mobile homes and the like, the skirt comprising substantially rigid sheet material, preferably cold rolled or cold bent sheet aluminum and comprises a top panel consisting of three separate sheets held together by a bridge across the top which top bridge is anchored by fasteners to each of the top sheets. The skirt also comprises a bottom panel consisting of at least three separate bottom sheets anchored together by a bottom bridge using fasteners. The top and bottom panels taken as a whole comprise three U-shaped telescopically related top to bottom segments which are vertically slidably interlocked one segment with the next so that the top panel and the bottom panel may be relatively telescopically displaced thereby changing the overall vertical effective length (height) of the skirt. By anchoring the skirt in depending relation at the periphery adjacent the floor of a mobile home, the skirt is caused to span the distance between the bottom of the mobile home and the ground.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 1975Date of Patent: March 8, 1977Inventor: John E.
