Abstract: Foamed products are prepared by subjecting a crosslinked polymer such as an ethylene-carbon monoxide copolymer susceptible to heating by high frequency electromagnetic radiation such as microwave or radio frequency which has been imbibed or impregnated with a suitable mechanical or physical blowing agent such as a halogenated hydrocarbon to sufficient high frequency electromagnetic radiation to cause foaming of the polymer.

Abstract: Shaped articles are made from blends of rubber and plastic in which the rubber is in the form of discrete vulcanized particles dispersed in the plastic. After shaping the articles, they are exposed to free-radical crosslinking which converts the blends from thermoplastics to thermosets.

Abstract: This invention relates to a heat-shrinkable film consisting essentially of a blend of 99.5-98.5 weight % of linear low or medium density polyethylene and 0.5-1.5 weight % of one or more copolymers of ethylene with a monomer selected from vinyl acetate and acrylic acids or esters, where said film has been cross-linked to the degree induced by an irradiation dosage of about 1 to 5 megarads.
Abstract: A solid photopolymerizable composition, contains addition polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated monomer, initiating system, polymer binder and a microgel wherein preferably the binder and microgel form substantially a single phase and have a similar glass transition temperature above 25.degree. C. Although less preferred the solid composition can function without the binder. A preferred use is as a photoresist.
Abstract: An aqueous ink recording sheet is described which is prepared by coating on the surface of a substrate sheet a resin composition containing as the chief ingredient a mixture comprising (A) 10 to 90 wt % of photo polymerizable, double bonded anionic synthetic resin, and (B) 90 to 0 wt % of partially or completely saponified polyvinyl alcohol, or partially or completely saponified polymer resin composed of 20 to 100 wt % of vinyl acetate and 80 to 0 wt % of other polymerizable monomer or derivatives thereof, and/or (C) 90 to 0 wt % of homopolymer resin of N-vinylpyrrolidone or copolymer resin of other polymerizable monomer therewith, with the weight ratio of (A)/[(B)+(C)] being 90/10 to 10/90, drying the coated resin composition, and then curing the resin composition by the irradiation with actinic rays so as to form a resin coating layer on the substrate.
Abstract: An oriented film is prepared by crosslinking a sheet of HDPE to provide maximum crosslinking at the surfaces of the sheet and minimum orientation at its middle layer portion, and thereafter heating and stretching the film to obtain an oriented HDPE of high clarity film of improved moisture proof.
Abstract: This invention relates to a method of and devices for impact and vibration damping and, more particularly, to devices composed of an elastoplastic material including the characteristics of damping, heat and pressure dimensional stability, and moisture non absorbency of a blend of polyolefin and conjugated diene butyl rubber which converts impact shock or vibration energy into thermal energy.
Abstract: A photosensitive resin composition comprising components A, B and C described below is provided. The composition of the present invention is quite effectively usable for the preparation of photosensitive resin printing plates having excellent water developability, image reproducibility and printability. The composition comprises:A. 100 parts by weight of a completely or partially saponified polyvinyl acetate having a degree of saponification of 50 to 100 mole %,B. 20 to 300 parts by weight of a photopolymerizable monomer having at least one ethylenically unsaturated bond in the molecule, andC. 1 to 50 parts by weight of a polymer obtained by homopolymerizing a polymerizable unsaturated monomer having the following groups (1) and (2) in the molecule or copolymerizing the same with another unsaturated monomer: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 represent H or CH.sub.3 and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent each an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms.
Abstract: An ethylene polymer composition is provided, the composition being a blend of a first ethylene polymer and a second ethylene polymer, the second ethylene polymer characterized by molecules having long chain Y-branches. The blend can be prepared by an extrusion process in which a portion of the polyethylene fed to the process is irradiated and the irradiated and non-irradiated polymers are blended by melt extrusion. The blends exhibit high flow activation energies and good blow-molding properties.
Abstract: A nonwoven texturized fabric is produced by embossing a molten film of a polymer blend of high density polyethylene and polystyrene with hexagonal shaped bosses, biaxially stretching the thus embossed film to produce an openwork net and then texturizing the net with special texturizing rollers to flatten and deform some of the bosses and bend some of the bands at an angle to the plane of the fabric to produce an essentially irregular pattern of bosses connected by bands.
Abstract: Co-vulcanizates are produced from mixtures of (a) from 95 to 5% by weight of fluoroelastomers and (b) from 5 to 95% by weight of elastomers which contain nitrile groups and have from 25 to 140 nitrile-nitrogen atoms and less than 35 double bonds per 1000 carbon atoms, and (c) conventional mixture ingredients, the percentages relating to the sum total of (a) and (b). The co-vulcanizates are suitable for the production of seals and other rubber articles, in particular for areas of use which impose exacting requirements.
