Patent number: 5753749Abstract: Urethane-filled compositions are produced by reacting a dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate residue or a dicyclohexylmethane diisocyanate residue containing mixture with a monofunctional alcohol containing at least one ether group in an amount such that the equivalent ratio isocyanate groups to hydroxyl groups is from about 0.9:1 to about 1:0.9. The diisocyanate residue or residue-containing mixture must contain at least 20% by weight monomeric diisocyanate and have a total NCO content of at least 10%. The diisocyanate residue is produced by phosgenating dicyclohexylmethane diamine in which less than 20% polymeric diamine is present. The urethane filled compositions produced in this manner may then be dissolved in either a polyol or a polyisocyanate and subsequently used to produce polyurethanes in known manner.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1996Date of Patent: May 19, 1998Assignee: Bayer CorporationInventor: William E. Patent number: 5693693Abstract: Wax based invisible inks have been discovered that emit light at various wavelengths in the visible region when they are excited by UV light. This allows lower layer clear text information to be written on an object with a regular, visible ink and an upper layer bar code to be written over the lower layer text information with an ink that is invisible to the naked eye. This allows the lower layer text information and upper layer bar code to contain more information than conventional bar codes. These inks allow printing and decoding invisible bar codes over printed information with visible inks. The detection by fluorescence of these invisible inks provides a high signal to noise ratio and no interference with the visible printed information.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1994Date of Patent: December 2, 1997Assignee: Pitney Bowes, Inc.Inventors: Judith D. Patent number: 4656211Abstract: A curable resin composition which comprises (1) a copolymer composed of an aminoalkyl acrylate and/or aminoalkyl methacrylate and an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and (2) a blocked polyisocyanate compound formulated therein. The curable resin composition undergoes curing at by far lowered temperatures as compared with the conventionally employed baking paints consisting of hydroxyl-containing resins and blocked polyisocyanate compounds, and are therefore useful, for example, as a low-temperature baking type paint or adhesive. Heating brings about the crosslinking through the reaction between isocyanate and amino groups, thus providing coating films with excellent flexibility, chemical resistance, water resistance, impact resistance, corrosion resistance, etc. The composition can be used to such substrates as metal, heat-resistant plastics and inorganic materials, and can be applied onto electrical appliances for household uses, automobiles, building materials and the like.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 1986Date of Patent: April 7, 1987Assignee: Takeda Chemical Industries, Ltd.Inventors: Kohji Nasu, Fumihiro Doura

Patent number: 4640935Abstract: An adduct of a heteroatomic monomer, e.g., gamma-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane and a monoahl, e.g., a monohydroxyl polyalkylene oxide or a polyahl, e.g., a polypropylene glycol, is usefully employed in the preparation of stable copolymer dispersions of the type used in the production of polyurethane foams and polyurethane elastomers. The copolymer dispersion is prepared by addition copolymerization of (1) the adduct with (2) ethylenically unsaturated monomer(s), e.g., styrene or mixture thereof with acrylonitrile, while (1) and (2) are dispersed or dissolved in an excess of a polyahl, i.e., an active hydrogen polyfunctional compound.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: The Dow Chemical CompanyInventors: Thomas E. Patent number: 4619990Abstract: Polymeric dyes having pendent chromophore groups which are selected from azo, tricyanovinyl, anthraquinone, methine, and indoaniline groups fall into two classes, [A] condensation polymers, and [B] polymers derived from copolymerized ethylenically-unsaturated monomers, the dyes being capable of undergoing thermoplastic deformation by a focused laser beam when in a layer of thickness in the range of 0.1 to 100 micrometers and having an absorptivity in the range of 10 to 250 Lg.sup.-1 cm.sup.-1. They are film-forming, thermally- and light-stable, and solvent-coatable. These compounds are useful as coloring and light-absorbing agents, particularly as the light-absorbing agents in thin optical recording layers.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1985Date of Patent: October 28, 1986Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventor: Mohamed A.
