Patent number: 5349004Abstract: Novel pressure-sensitive adhesives are described which show significant resistance to solvents and working fluids such as jet fuel, hydraulic fluid, de-icing fluid and the like. Adhesive compositions comprise nonaqueous dispersions of copolymers of acrylic monomers prepared in the presence of a vinyl-substituted fluoroalkyl siloxane having the general formula I and a macromonomeric stabilizer. The adhesives prepared from the adhesive compositions exhibit excellent adhesion to glass, aluminum, and low surface-energy materials such as fluoroalkyl siloxane elastomers.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1992Date of Patent: September 20, 1994Assignee: Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing CompanyInventors: Ramesh C. Patent number: 5346932Abstract: The invention provides a silicone rubber composition which is efficiently curable by exposure to microwaves but, different from conventional microwave-curable silicone rubber compositions compounded with a deep-colored energy-absorbing agent, is still capable of being colored in any desired color because the energy-absorbing agent compounded therein is not colored. The energy-absorbing agent used here is a silica or polyorganosilsesquioxane powder having cyanoalkyl or fluoroalkyl groups bonded to the silicon atoms.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1992Date of Patent: September 13, 1994Assignee: Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masaharu Takahashi, Jun Hatakeyama

Patent number: 5302632Abstract: The compatibility between high consistency fluorinated and non-fluorinated polydiorganosiloxanes is increased, with a resultant increase in the physical-properties of elastomers prepared from mixtures of these polymers, by blending the polymers together with a reinforcing silica filler that is reacted with both fluorinated and non-fluorinated liquid polydiorganosiloxanes as filler treating agents. The high consistency polydiorganosiloxanes contain at least two alkenyl radicals per molecule and are cured by a hydrosilation reaction.Type: GrantFiled: April 22, 1991Date of Patent: April 12, 1994Assignee: Dow Corning CorporationInventor: Myron T. Patent number: 5252655Abstract: When a dispersion of oxide ceramic particles in certain volatile organic solvents is mixed with less than about 2 percent by weight (based on the weight of particles) of an oligomeric polysiloxanol dispersant, and the dispersion allowed to settle, the oligomer provides a multiplicity of OH groups, many of which are available for interactive bonding to the surfaces of the particles. The net result is that the particles settle more slowly; also, the sediment has a density higher than that of sediment from a dispersion of the same particles in the same solvent mixed with the monomeric silane from which the oligomer was formed. Exceptionally dense and strong "tape", for making sintered circuitized multilayered ceramic structures, is produced by capitalizing on this phenomenon. The effectiveness of the oligomer is predicated upon the prehydrolysis of the siloxane, prior to forming the dispersion.Type: GrantFiled: March 16, 1992Date of Patent: October 12, 1993Assignee: Aluminum Company of AmericaInventors: Anthony A.
