Patent number: 4443564Abstract: Functional agglomerated speckles, for incorporation in dentifrices, include agglomerates of a water insoluble powdered functional material and a mixture of a water insoluble, ethanol soluble ethyl cellulose binder and a suitable water soluble binder, such as polyvinyl pyrrolidone. Such speckles, while more "soluble" or disintegrable in a flavored dentifrice than those based on ethyl cellulose binders without PVP, still can satisfactorily maintain their integrity and identity during processing of the dentifrice after addition of the speckles to the main dentifrice body, but on storage, after packaging of the dentifrice in dispensing tubes, they will soften sufficiently so as then to be essentially impalpable to one utilizing the dentifrice in brushing his teeth. Despite such softening the speckles continue to maintain their identity as separate small bodies in the dentifrice.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1982Date of Patent: April 17, 1984Assignee: Colgate-Palmolive CompanyInventors: John P. Hauschild, Joseph R. Principe

Patent number: 4385138Abstract: A thermosetting powder resin based water-slurry coating composition prepared by dispersing water insoluble thermosetting resin particles and an adduct of a structurally symmetrical diol having a molecular weight of from 90 to 300 with ethylene oxide or propylene oxide, or a mixture thereof in an aqueous medium. The composition provides improvements in the anti-sedimentation properties and redispersibility of particles, and consequently in the extended storage stability and application performance thereof. The composition is applied to form a film with excellent smoothness, gloss, water resistance, moisture resistance, corrosion resistance, etc., without developing any pinholing and cratering by solvent popping, and checking on film formation by heating.Type: GrantFiled: April 24, 1981Date of Patent: May 24, 1983Assignee: Kansai Paint Co., Ltd.Inventors: Masahiro Sagane, Ichiro Tabuchi

Patent number: 4376178Abstract: A stable polyol-alkali metal silicate emulsion is produced by mixing an aqueous solution of an alkali metal silicate or alkali metal metasilicate pentahydrate, a liquid polyol and a small amount of a salt of an alkali metal compound and a weak acid while heating the mixture to between 40.degree. C. and 100.degree. C. and agitating until the mixture emulsifies.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 1982Date of Patent: March 8, 1983Inventor: David H. Blount

Patent number: 4336145Abstract: A liquid gel concentrate for forming a high viscosity treating fluid is provided which can be premixed and stored before being used. The concentrate is comprised of water, a hydratable polymer which yields viscosity upon hydration and an inhibitor having the property of reversibly reacting with the hydratable polymer in a manner whereby the rate of hydration of the polymer is retarded. Upon the selective reversal of the hydration inhibiting reaction the polymer is hydrated and high viscosity yielded thereby. The concentrate can be utilized directly or it can be diluted with additional water to form a large volume of high viscosity treating fluid.Type: GrantFiled: July 12, 1979Date of Patent: June 22, 1982Assignee: Halliburton CompanyInventor: James E. Patent number: 4330456Abstract: Continuous process for producing a finely divided aqueous dispersion of a homogeneous phase of at least one fusible solid ingredient and possibly of at least one liquid ingredient in which an aqueous solution of dispersion additive with a melted homogeneous phase is continuously subjected to a high velocity gradient in an agitation zone. The respective temperatures and flow rates of the aqueous solution and the homogeneous phase are regulated so that the homogeneous phase of the dispersion thusly produced reaches its solidification temperature after the dispersion has been evacuated from the agitation zone and before thermal equilibrium between the aqueous solution and the homogeneous phase is reached.Type: GrantFiled: December 26, 1978Date of Patent: May 18, 1982Assignee: Chloe ChimieInventors: Bernard Bonnaud, Jean-Bernard Pompon
