Such curable rubber compositions are widely used in the production of cured rubber articles, such as tyres, belts and hoses. The composition contains a branched silicone resin having Si-bonded hydroxyl groups or azo groups. This may lead to a reduction in the mixing energy required for processing, particularly in the energy required in the first (non-productive) mixing phase to give good dispersion of the filler in the organic elastomer. Use of the branched silicone resin can also accelerate cure (vulcanization), thus reducing the required cure time or reducing the amount of cure accelerator required.

  • Publication number: 20090197995
Abstract: Provided are elastomeric compositions, such as a tire innerliner, comprising at least one isobutylene based elastomer and at least one hydrocarbon fluid additive (“HFA”). The compositions have improved cold temperature properties and are particularly useful as tire innerliners for an aircraft tire. The use of a HFA in the elastomeric composition may allow for the use of reduced amounts of secondary elastomers, such as natural rubber, while allowing for an improved balance in the composition's brittleness and permeability properties. Examples of useful HFAs include polyalphaolefins, high purity hydrocarbon fluids, and water white group III mineral oils.

  • Publication number: 20090170982
Abstract: The invention concerns a process to manufacture paper coatings containing at least one mineral matter, at least one binder and water, characterised in that at least one comb polymer obtained by grafting of a least one polyalkylene oxide function on to the polymer chain, where the said chain results from the polymerisation of a least one ethylenic unsaturated monomer, is introduced into the above-mentioned composition. The paper coatings thus obtained have increased water retention and reduced Brookfield viscosity compared to the same coatings containing a water-retaining thickening agent of the prior art.

Abstract: Various processes and methods are disclosed for incorporating polyvinyl alcohol additives into products. In one embodiment, polyvinyl alcohol particles are dissolved in a solvent without the use of external heat to form a polyvinyl alcohol solution for incorporation into a product. In an alternative embodiment, polyvinyl alcohol particles are directly incorporated into a starch-based adhesive composition. Through the processes of the present disclosure, solid polyvinyl alcohol particles can be delivered directly to a manufacturing facility where the product that incorporates the polyvinyl alcohol additive is being made or formulated. In this manner, since the polyvinyl alcohol particles are not predissolved, the costs associated with shipping and transporting the polyvinyl alcohol product are greatly reduced.
