  • Patent number: 10947334
Abstract: A method for preparing an anionic thermoviscosifying water-soluble polymer includes the following steps: performing an inverse emulsion polymerization by using acrylamide, acrylic acid and Pluronic triblock polymer. The high reactivity of acrylamide and the inverse emulsion polymerization can increase the molecular weight of the thermoviscosifying polymer, and exhibit an obvious thermoviscosifying effect even at a low polymer concentration, which can reduce the application cost. The dissolution rate of the obtained polymer emulsion is significantly higher than the dissolution rate of the dry powder of the polymer. The obtained emulsion-diluted solution has a relatively strong thermoviscosifying behavior after further adding a small amount of reverse demulsifier, and the emulsion-diluted solution exhibits different thermoviscosifying behaviors as the amount of the reverse demulsifier is increased.

Abstract: In a non-aqueous pigment ink that includes pigment, a non-aqueous solvent, and a non-aqueous resin that functions to disperse pigment dissolved in the non-aqueous solvent, the non-aqueous solvent includes a hydrocarbon based non polar solvent at 50% by mass or more with respect to the total amount of solvent. The non-aqueous resin is an acrylic polymer having a comb shaped structure, in which alkyl groups having carbon numbers from 8 to 18 and urethane groups form side chains on a (meth)acrylate main chain. The acrylic polymer is a copolymer of an alkyl(meth)acrylate (A) having alkyl groups with a carbon number from 8 to 18, a reactive (meth)acrylate (B) having functional groups that react with amino groups, and a monomer (C) having ?-diketone groups or ?-keto acid ester groups, into which the urethane groups are introduced by reactions between the functional groups that react with amino groups, amino alcohol, and a multivalent isocyanate compound.

Abstract: New associative thickening agents belonging to the category of HASEs (Hydrophobically modified Alkali-Soluble Emulsions). These products contain an original associative monomer with a base of alkylcyclohexanol akoxylates. Their thickening power is greater than the HASE associative thickening agents of the prior art containing grafted alkyl phenols. An efficient substitute product is therefore available, which is free of alkyls phenols, matching current market demand.

Abstract: The present invention provides an economical route to environmentally friendly polymeric coatings with a high content of raw materials from renewable resources. These polymeric coatings offer performance characteristics that are competitive with conventional coating systems. The unique polymers on which this invention is based are copolymers of triglyceride oils, such as soybean oil, linseed oil, or another natural oil, with a vinyl compound, such as an acrylate or methacrylate, or a vinyl aromatic monomer. The present invention more specifically discloses a water dispersible, self-crosslinkable prepolymer composition which is comprised of a triglyceride oil having appended thereto (1) hydroxyl groups, (2) epoxy groups, (3) moieties which contain at least one aldehyde group or at least one ketone group, and (4) moieties which contain at least one vinyl and/or substituted vinyl group. In one embodiment of this invention the moiety which contains at least one vinyl group is derived from maleic anhydride.
