Abstract: The invention relates to a process for spin dyeing polymers of acrylonitrile or copolymers containing predominantly acrylonitrile, which process comprises adding to the spinning solution a monocationic dye salt of the formula ##STR1## wherein D is the group of atoms necessary to close a 5-membered heterocyclic ring containing two N-atoms, or to close a 6-membered heterocyclic ring, which rings may optionally contain fused benzene rings, or is the group of atoms necessary to close a benzthiazole ring, and Q is the radical of a carbocyclic or heterocyclic aromatic coupling component, and R.sub.1 is alkyl, aralkyl or aryl. The yellowish-red transparent fibres obtained have excellent fastness properties.
Abstract: Polyvinyl alcohol based sizing solution containing a small amount of quaternary (e.g., dialkyldimethyl) ammonium salt or quaternary imidazolinium salt additives provide good operability during application and weaving and results in fabric having improved finishing performance.
Abstract: Chlorinated polymers are employed within flexible wire insulation coatings to improve the insulation properties of the coating and to increase the coating's discoloration resistance.

Abstract: Smoke suppressed rigid polyurethane foams are prepared from a reaction mixture comprising as the smoke suppressant additive a metal salt of a: dialkyl dithiocarbamate, a mercaptobenzothiazole, a 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole, a mercaptotriazine, a hydroxy thiophenol or an aliphatic dimercapto compound of 2 to 10 carbons.
Abstract: Oligomeric, essentially linear epoxide resins with chlorine-containing and/or bromine-containing benzimidazolone radicals in the oligomer chain are particularly suitable as flameproofing agents for thermosetting and thermoplastic polymers.
Abstract: Isoindoline colorants of the formula ##STR1## where R.sup.1 is the radical of a 5-membered or 6-membered heterocyclic unsaturated ring, which may or may not be fused to a benzo ring, X is ##STR2## R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, benzyl, phenyl or 1-naphthyl, and R.sup.1, the phenyl and naphthyl radicals, and the ring A may or may not be substituted by groups which do not confer solubility. In surface coatings, printing inks and plastics the novel colorants give yellow to red or brown very deep colorations which have good lightfastness, and fastness to weathering and to overspraying.
Abstract: An aqueous acrylamide polymer solution is stabilized by causing it to contain in combination a 2-mercaptobenzimidazole compound and a phenolic antioxidant compound.
