Abstract: Blends of a perfluoroelastomer with a nitrile containing polyperfluoroether are described. The addition of the polyperfluoroether often improves the properties, processability and/or low temperature properties of the perfluoroelastomer. It is preferred if the perfluoroelastomer contains nitrile groups so that the two polymers can cocure, thereby retarding separation of the polyperfluoroether from the perfluoroelastomer.

  • Patent number: 5216079
Abstract: Lubricant systems are provided in which a polyolefin or polyolefin/polytetrafluoroethylene blend functions as a lubricant in a polymer matrix material. The resulting polymer composites containing about 1 to 30 weight percent of the novel lubricant or lubricant blend have greatly improved friction and wear properties, including lower coefficients of friction and increased surface wear resistence. The polyolefin does not remain as discrete, identifiable particles after mixing with the polymer matrix, and has an average molecular weight of less than 500,000.

  • Patent number: 5210153
Abstract: Novel block polymers which are thermoplastic elastomers which are thermoplastic elastomers are provided for use as binders in high-energy compositions such as propellants, explosives, gasifiers or the like. The block polymers have an ABA structure wherein the A blocks are crystalline at temperatures below 60.degree. C. and the B blocks are amorphous at temperatures above -20.degree. C. Both the A and B blocks are polyethers formed from monomers of oxetanes and/or tetrahydrofuran. The block polymers melt in the range of 60.degree. C. to 120.degree. C. and have low viscosities above their melting points due to mutual miscibility of the A and B blocks.
