Abstract: Provided are spunbond polyester mats using an improved curable composition. The curable composition comprises a reaction product of an amine and a reactant in the form of an amino-amide intermediate. To the amino-amide is added an aldehyde or ketone to form the curable binder composition. The composition when used as a binder in the mat is cured to form a water-insoluble binder which exhibits good adhesion and thermodimensional stability.

Abstract: A sulfur-crosslinkable adhesive composition of the non-aqueous type, that is to say not requiring the presence of water, usable for direct bonding of a pregelled polyester or vinyl ester composite to rubber in the uncured state. The composition comprises polyvinylpyridine-styrene-butadiene elastomer (“p-VSBR”) in combination with a polyester or vinyl ester resin. Preferably, the resin used is a novolak and/or bisphenol based resin of the epoxy vinyl ester type. This composition, unlike conventional RFL adhesives, does not require any activation treatment, such as intermediate drying, at the time of use. A process for preparing such an adhesive composition, use of said composition for the manufacture of laminated composite parts.

Abstract: Accelerator compositions for the free radical polymerization of unsaturated polyesters and for the curing of unsaturated polyesters and polyurethanes are disclosed. More particularly, use is made of complexes of thiolic compounds with metal salts as the accelerators. In more preferred embodiments, the accelerators also include oxygen-containing compounds or phosphorus-containing compounds. Also disclosed are curable resin compositions comprising these accelerators and polymerization and curing processes employing these accelerators.
Abstract: A liquid coating composition is provided which comprises, as a binder, an addition polymer containing on average 2 or more pendant activated unsaturated groups and, as a crosslinking agent, a compound containing on average 2 or more primary amino groups. The pendant activated unsaturated groups of the addition polymer are based upon fumaric, maleic and/or itaconic acid and/or anhydrides thereof. The liquid coating compositions of the present invention provide the particular advantage of rapid cure at ambient temperatures.

Abstract: A polyester comprising at least 12 mole percent polymerized recurring units containing an arylamine photoconductive component and at least 15 mole percent polymerized recurring units containing a photopolymerizable component and wherein each of said components is responsive to a different wavelength of light. The polyesters are useful in radiation-sensitive elements, particularly lithographic elements.

Abstract: A coating composition is disclosed which is curable under the influence of ultraviolet light and which comprises a U.V.-curable binder, a photoinitiator and as accelerator a polycyclic condensation product of formaldehyde or acetaldehyde and an aliphatic or cycloaliphatic diprimary 1,2-diamine. The U.V.-curable binder is preferably an adduct containing at least one isocyanate group of (a) an acrylic or methacrylic hydroxy ester having 5 to 20 carbon atoms and (b) a polyisocyanate having 4 to 44 carbon atoms and 2 to 4 isocyanate groups.
