  • Patent number: 9040617
Abstract: Water-borne cross-linking polymeric compositions and related embodiments, such as methods of making and using the compositions, as well as products formed with said compositions are described. The water-borne composition may comprise one or more polymers formulated from one or more monomers of which at least one is a monomer that yields acetaldehyde as a hydrolysis product, and incorporating cross-linking functionality such as, but not limited to, carbonyl or epoxy functionality, and a blocked cross-linking agent, for example, a hydrazone. Neither the cross-linking functionality nor the acetaldehyde reacts with the blocked cross-linking agent; however, the blocked cross-linking agent is capable of conversion to an alternative form cross-linking agent such as, but not limited to, a hydrazide, to yield a cross-linked polymer. The alternative form cross-linking agent may be formed in an equilibrium reaction including the blocked cross-linking agent.

Abstract: In the context of a polyacrylate-based composition, the intention is to allow controlled thermal crosslinking. This is accomplished by provision of a crosslinker-accelerator system for the thermal crosslinking of polyacrylates having functional groups suitable for entering into linking reactions with epoxide groups, comprising at least one substance comprising at least one epoxide group (crosslinker) and at least one substance conforming to the general formula (I) NR3??(I), in which the radicals R independently of one another are a hydrogen atom or an organic radical having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, with at least one of the radicals R being an organic radical with 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and comprising at least one alcoholic OH group.

  • Patent number: 8492481
Abstract: The present invention relates to a block polymeric material. Typically the block polymer comprises units capable of having an average cationic charge density of about 15 or less, preferably 5 or less, more preferably from about 0.05 to about 5, even more preferably from about 0.05 to about 2.77, even more preferably from about 0.1 to about 2.75, most preferably from about 0.75 to about 2.25 units per 100 daltons molecular weight at a pH of from about 4 to about 12. The polymeric material is a suds enhancer and a suds volume extender for personal care products such as soaps and shampoos. The compositions have increased effectiveness for preventing re-deposition of grease during hand and body washing. The polymers are also effective as a soil release agent in fabric cleaning compositions.

Abstract: The present invention relates to innovative materials which are reversibly crosslinkable by means of a thermoreversible mechanism and/or whose viscosity is reversibly adjustable. Through the use of bishydrazones or conjugated bis-Schiff bases as diene components in aza-Diels-Alder reactions, functional materials are generated that feature controllable viscosity and/or reversible crosslinking.
