Abstract: A low viscosity, stable graft polymer dispersion is prepared by polymerizing in the presence of a free radical initiator, from about 25 to about 75 weight percent based on the total weight of the dispersion, an ethylenically unsaturated monomer or mixture of monomers, in a polyol mixture comprising (1) from about 25 to about 99 weight percent of a polyol containing from 2 to 8 hydroxyl groups and having an equivalent weight from 30 to about 200, (2) from about 1 to about 75 weight percent of a macromer containing induced unsaturation, said macromer comprising the reaction product of a polyether polyol having an equivalent weight from 100 to 10,000 with a compound having both ethylenic unsaturation and a group selected from the group consisting of a hydroxyl, carboxyl, anhydride, isocyanate and epoxy or mixtures thereof. These graft polymer dispersions are useful for preparing polyurethane products.

Abstract: Phosphonopolyester oligomers are prepared from hydroxyalkylated 2,2',-bis(3-allylphenyl-4-hydroxy) alkanes and phosphonyl dihalides. The oligomers are useful in the preparation of polyester resins, epoxy resins, and polyurethanes.
Abstract: Unsaturated polyester resins are rendered less brittle without significantly deteriorating other physical properties by reacting therewith 0.1 to 25 parts of a carboxyl terminated reactive liquid polymer, preferably poly(butadiene-acrylonitrile), per 100 parts of the polyester resin.

Abstract: Polyesters containing co-condensed polyalkylene glycol residues as the sole air-drying components are, providing they satisfy certain requirements, an excellent basis for photopolymerizable unsaturated polyester resins which harden under UV-light very rapidly even in extremely thin layers.

Abstract: A process for preparing a cured copolyetherester elastomeric composition comprising following steps I and II:Step I: melt-extruding an uncured linear copolyetherester elastomeric composition of [A] and [B] to follow:[A] a linear copolyetherester elastomer composed of(A-1) a hard segment consisting of(i) an acid component of which at least 70 mol % is an aromatic dicarboxylic acid and(ii) a diol component having an average molecular weight of up to 350 and(A-2) a soft segment consisting of(iii) a polyalkylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from 500 to 5,000 in an amount of from 10 to 80% by weight based on the elastomer [A]; and[B] a compound having an unsaturated aliphatic moiety other than unsaturated conjugated moieties, said compound [B] being copolymerized or blended with said elastomer [A], wherein said unsaturated aliphatic moiety is chemically inert at the melt-extruding temperature, the amount of said moiety being 0.001 to 0.
Abstract: This invention relates to halogenated polyhydroxy compounds of the formulaAr[OR(OH).sub.n-1 ].sub.mwherein Ar is a halogenated polyphenyl or halogenated polyphenylbenzene containing 2 to 5 aromatic rings with each of said rings having at least 3 halogen atoms thereon, R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon, an aliphatic ether or an alicyclic hydrocarbon containing 2 to 40 carbon atoms and n and m each is an integer 2, 3 or 4 and when R is a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon n and/or m is 3 or 4.This invention also relates to a process for preparing halogenated polyhydroxy compounds of the formulaAr[OR(OH).sub.n-1 ].sub.mwherein Ar is a halogenated polyphenyl or halogenated polyphenylbenzene containing 2 to 5 aromatic rings with each of said rings having at least 3 halogen atoms thereon, R is an aliphatic hydrocarbon, an aliphatic ether or an alicyclic hydrocarbon containing 2 to 40 carbon atoms and n and m each is an integer 2, 3 or 4 which comprises:(a) reacting in a temperature range between about 80.degree. and 230.
Abstract: Polyester resins are formed by the reaction of alcohols having a hydroxyl functionality of at least one and an allyloxy functionality of at least one, provided the total hydroxyl and allyloxy functionalities are at least three, with saturated dicarboxylic acids or anhydrides. The polyester resins are combined with vinyl monomers to form low temperature cure coating compositions.
