Patent number: 8461281Abstract: An insulating polymer material composition is obtained by adding curing agent (amine, acid anhydride, or phenol, preferably imidazole), curing accelerator, etc. (curing accelerator such as organic peroxide, amine, imidazole, or the like, and reaction aid such as peroxide), kneading under conditions according to the amounts of addition, and subjecting the kneaded substance to heat treatment, thereby conducting a peroxide vulcanization and achieving a three-dimensional crosslinking. This insulating polymer material composition is applied to polymer products such as high-voltage devices, etc.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 2008Date of Patent: June 11, 2013Assignee: Meidensha CorporationInventor: Yasuyuki Kurata

Publication number: 20040176559Abstract: Rosin modified phenolic resins are prepared by reacting together rosin, fatty acid, phenol and aldehyde. The fatty acid may be Monomer (derived from the fatty acid dimerization process). The reaction mixture may optionally include &agr;,&bgr;-olefinically unsaturated carboxylic acid(s) or anhydride(s), and polyol(s). The resin may be dissolved in a solvent to form a varnish. The resin may be used as a component of inks for lithographic or gravure printing.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 5, 2003Publication date: September 9, 2004Inventor: Thomas A. Fontana

Patent number: 6339116Abstract: Biobased cross-linked compositions, methods of fabrication and structures, in particular biobased printed wiring boards using the compositions and methods of making the structures are described. Biobased materials such as lignin, crop oils, wood resins, tannins, and polysaccharides and combinations thereof are cross-linked, preferably using heat, a cross-linking agent, and an initiator. The materials fabricated have suitable properties for printed wiring boards which are made by impregnating a fiberglass or biobased cloth with an admixture of the biobased material, cross-linking agent and initiator which is processed by conventional methods to produce a printed wiring board.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 1996Date of Patent: January 15, 2002Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Ali Afzali-Ardakani, Jeffrey Donald Gelorme, Laura Louise Kosbar

Patent number: 5504152Abstract: The specification discloses a method for esterifying rosins with a polyol which comprises contacting rosin with the polyol in the presence of a bleaching mixture which includes both an alkaline earth hypophosphite and hypophosphorous acid and, preferably also, an organic sulfide, under esterification conditions to produce a rosin ester. The method enables production of rosin esters which have a color of less than about 5 Gardner neat. The preferred bleaching mixture includes from about 0.01% to about 0.10% of the alkaline earth hypophosphite and from about 0.10% to about 0.15% of active hypophosphorous acid, where the amounts are based on the weight of the rosin. The most preferred alkaline earth hypophosphite is calcium hypophosphite. The specification also describes a method for preparing an adhesive from the rosin ester.Type: GrantFiled: January 10, 1995Date of Patent: April 2, 1996Assignee: Arizona Chemical CompanyInventors: Robert W. Patent number: 4710228Abstract: Disclosed are edible film coating compositions of low moisture permeability and their methods of preparation. The compositions comprise cross-linked, refined shellac and preferably an edible member having a reactive hydroxyl or acid moiety selected from the group consisting of edible sources of polyphenolics, edible sources of benzaldehyde and derivatives, acetylated monoglycerides, polyglycerol esters, edible straight chain mono-carboxylic acid, edible di-carboxylic acids and mixtures thereof. Useful weight ratios of shellac to reactant range from 1:0.001 to 0.1. In the preferred method of preparation, the shellac is cross-linked with the reactants in a dry, molten mixture by heating at 130.degree. to 175.degree. C. for 2 to 15 minutes. The resulting coating compound while molten is dissolved in a food grade solvent, applied to a substrate and dried.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 1985Date of Patent: December 1, 1987Assignee: General Mills, Inc.Inventors: Jonathan Seaborne, David C. Patent number: 4528127Abstract: This invention is directed to a composition for coating a substrate with a powder coating and to a method of making matt finishes. The composition comprises a solid polyepoxide resin, a solid curing agent in which at least 50 weight percent of the curing agent is a 1:1 mole ratio adduct of rosin and maleic anhydride, a catalyst for promoting the reaction between the polyepoxide and the curing agent, and a pigment. The method of making matt finishes comprises (1) applying to a surface the above-described composition and (2) curing the mixture at a temperature from 140.degree. to 250.degree.
