Abstract: A method of developing degradable linear poly(ethylene glycol) PEG (DPEG) with multiple functioning capacities, which can be used as drug carriers for cancer cell delivery. A DPEG may be effective in targeting cancerous tumors through an enhanced permeation and retention effect (EPR). The DPEG will then degrade in the acidic extracellular fluid of solid tumors leading to fast cellular internalizations, finally degrading in the lysosome for efficient renal clearance. These may be used in conjunction with drugs and/or targeting groups. Furthermore, DPEGs are thermoresponsive, on an as needed basis, making them useful for in vivo application.

Abstract: A polysulfone is provided with a nitrogen-containing functional group having an affinity to an acid, an electrolyte membrane using the polysulfone, and a fuel cell including the electrolyte membrane. In particular, the polysulfone includes a nitrogen-containing functional group that has an affinity to an acid, such as a phosphoric acid, thereby having an excellent acid retaining ability. In an electrolyte membrane including the polysulfone and an acid, the amount of the retained acid can be controlled. Therefore, the electrolyte membrane has a high ionic conductivity and a high mechanical strength. A polysulfone blend of polysulfone and a thermoplastic resin prevents the dissolution of polysulfone by phosphoric acid, so that an electrolyte membrane using the polysulfone blend has an improved durability. A cross-linked reaction product of polysulfone, a cross-linking agent and a polymerization product of polysulfone, a thermoplastic resin, and a cross-linking agent strongly resist a phosphoric acid.

  • Patent number: 6468632
Abstract: A method for coating the sawed edges of gypsum wallboard to prevent dusting of gypsum particles in clean rooms. The method includes applying a water-dispersible polymers to the sawed edges of gypsum wallboard. The polymer forms a water-insoluble salt through an ion exchange with the calcium found in gypsum wallboard. The result is a tough, tack free, fast-drying coating that substantially reduces the levels of airborne gypsum particles that come from the sawed edges of gypsum wallboards.
