Patent number: 8112971Abstract: A valve (20) is provided for sealing an evacuation port (16) in a port area (18) of a wall structure (12) of a container. The valve (20) comprises a casing (22) having a shell portion (30) which is deformable from an open condition, whereat the shell portion (30) forms a chamber (32) over the port area (18), and a closed condition, whereat the shell portion (30) contacts the port area (18). When the shell portion (30) is in its open condition, gas exits from the chamber (32) through gas-releasing holes (24) in the casing (22). When the shell portion (30) is deformed to its closed condition, a port-sealing adhesive (26) adheres to the port area (18) to thereby seal the evacuation port (16).Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2010Date of Patent: February 14, 2012Assignee: Avery Dennison CorporationInventors: Ronald Newrones, Richard L. Patent number: 6735491Abstract: Disclosed herein is a system and method for optimally designing automobile door seals. The system comprises data storage, data management and model design. The data storage consists of a plurality of storage units, each of which has data necessary for each condition. The data management consists of a plurality of mode selection units for selecting a mode from the data storage according to the characteristics of a door seal to be developed. The model design designs a complete door seal by imposing a variety of conditions on a model selected from the data management and performing various tests.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 2000Date of Patent: May 11, 2004Assignee: Hyundai Motor CompanyInventor: Yong-Tae Byun

Patent number: 6631762Abstract: An oil well pumping system includes a small positive displacement pump below the fluid interface in a low volume oil well which pumps at a rate to maintain approximately constant fluid level in the well. The system includes at least a pair of sensors in a sensor array that is positioned above the pump and near the fluid interface to unambiguously determine liquid level. By maintaining the pumping rate of the positive displacement pump below that required to lower the liquid level to the pump, the pump will not unload and pump power requirements are reduced to a nearly constant low rate. In addition, the pump off control function is accomplished by a microprocessor which is mounted adjacent to the downhole sensor array. This location allows simple direct control of the downhole electric motor and eliminates the requirement that a control element be placed on the surface far from the pump.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2001Date of Patent: October 14, 2003Inventor: Herman D. Patent number: 5143236Abstract: According to this process, the container (2) is filled, and after filling a capsule (6) carrying a valve is fixed in a sealed manner to the neck (21) of the bottle (2), said valve consisting of a membrane (5) of elastomeric material of thickness such that that valve can become sealed again by elastic recall after having undergone aspiration in order to create a reduced pressure and/or the introduction of unreactive gas, the capsule (6) and the valve (5) remaining on the container (2) and maintaining the seal of the container (2) during storage. A top cap (4) may receive the valve (5) and contribute to sealing. The invention also relates to a packaging unit for the implementation of this process.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1991Date of Patent: September 1, 1992Assignee: L'OrealInventor: Jean-Louis H. Gueret
