Abstract: A device forms and applies an edge protector to a corner of a load as strap is positioned and tensioned around the load, to position the edge protector between the strap and the load. The device includes a shuttle movable between a home position away from the load and an application position near the load. The shuttle includes a breaker assembly having a fixed portion and a movable portion. The movable portion is movable between a position in which it is generally planar with the fixed portion and another position in which it is transverse to the fixed portion. The breaker assembly includes a shoe that defines a receiving region between the shoe and the fixed and movable portions. The shuttle includes a load contact portion. Movement of the shuttle from the home position moves the movable portion from the first to the second position to fold the edge protector.

Abstract: A strapping apparatus (10) for packages, has a packing table (11) on which the package (13) to be strapped lies. The apparatus has vertically oriented supports (17) which are arranged laterally on the packing table (11), a horizontally oriented pressing plate (18) which is arranged on the vertical supports (11) and which is movable in a vertical direction, and a device, situated on the pressing plate (18), for the arrangement of an edge protection means on the package (13) lying on the packing table (11). The device for the arrangement of the edge protection means can be moved from an initial position remote from the package into an arrangement position close to the package (13). The device includes at least one magazine (19), arranged on the pressing plate (18), for the supply of edge protection means and has a first clearance outline profile which is delimited by the packing table (11), the vertical supports (17), the pressing plate (18) and the at least one magazine (19).

Abstract: The stack-top dunnage can have a sheet having two opposite end sections and a center section therebetween; each end section being successively folded thus forming a thicker ledge portion. The stack-top protector can be placed on top of a stack and the ledges thence receive tie bands that tie the stack to a pallet for shipping.

The apparatus comprises transfer means for conveying at least one corner element (2) from an initial position to a position where the sides (A, B) of the corner element (2) are close to the corresponding edges (1a, 1b) of the corner to be protected, these transfer means comprising actuating means (4, 5, 6) for transferring the corner element (2) by a rotational movement through predetermined angles (?, ?) from the initial position (Pos2) to a position (Pos4) where at least a first side (A) of the corner element (2) is substantially aligned with a first side (1a) of the corner of the load (1).

Abstract: A restraint for packaging glass sheets includes a first leg and a second leg, each leg having an inner surface configured to contact at least a portion of the glass sheets and an outer surface. The first and second legs define a vertex. The inner surfaces are made at least partly of a compressible material and the outer surfaces are made at least partly of a material having a hardness greater than that of the compressible material.
