Abstract: An apparatus for correlating wallets with processing envelopes in photographic laboratories comprising:a dispenser (9) in which wallets (11) corresponding to the different customers are contained separately,means (5,7,8) for determining in accordance with the customer code read from the processing envelope (4), the extraction of a wallet (11) corresponding to that customer from the dispenser (9),means (13,14,15,16,17) for forming with the wallets (11) being extracted from said dispenser (9) a sequence corresponding to the sequence of processing envelopes (4) of that batch, andmeans for extracting one by one in the finishing station (21) the wallets (11) into which to insert the photographic material (28,29) corresponding to the processing envelopes (4) associated with said wallets (4).

Abstract: Partially overlapping printed sheets which are transported from an inserting or other producing or processing machine are delivered into a stacking unit which accumulates groups of overlapping sheets and dumps such groups into an intermittently operated wrapping unit wherein the groups are confined in plastic foils. The sheets which are intercepted during evacuation of a freshly formed group from the stacking unit are diverted into an accumulating unit which gathers the diverted sheets into piles and dumps the piles into a magazine for packing or for admission into one or more additional wrapping units.

Abstract: High-performance packaging machines, especially for cigarettes, require a large quantity of packaging material for producing blanks. The sheet-like packaging material is provided in reels (24). To provide a sufficient supply of reels (24) for the packaging machine (20), there is a reel magazine (26) which has a reel turret (27) with a plurality of reel holders (32, 33, 34). Each reel holder (32, 33, 34) itself receives a plurality of reels (24) arranged equiaxially next to one another. These are fed in succession to a consumption station (25) or reel-receiving devices (28, 29).

Abstract: In an insertion machine a track 20 moves groups of items past feed stations 30, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40 and 42 during respective machine cycles. The feed stations selectively feed items, onto the track 20 for inclusion with a group of items and eventual stuffing into an envelope to which postage need be applied.In order for data processing means 102 to calculate the amount of postage necessary, an operator uses a keyboard and display 110 to input predetermined per item weight values for items held at select stations. The data processing means 102 uses the predetermined values indicative of the per item weight of items held in the stations to obtain a calculated total weight for each group of items.

Abstract: A system for loading nuclear fuel pellets into a sintering boat from a pellet press which discharges newly-made pellets. The loading system includes apparatus for receiving the pellets from the press and inserting them into an upward vertically positioned channel, a horizontally positioned rotatable drum with at least one longitudinally aligned circumferential channel, previously mentioned, for holding a row of pellets, a drum rotating mechanism, a device for pushing the pellets out of a below-horizontally positioned channel, an incline to receive the pushed out pellets, a sintering boat/incline positioner to allow the pellets to leave the incline adjacent the position in the sintering boat of the next-to-be-stacked pellet row, and a controller to coordinate system component operation.

Abstract: A machine for orienting, accumulating and positioning packages received from two sources for loading into containers has an oscillating member which oscillates between the two sources during which time it both receives packages from one source while participating in loading packages into a container from the other source. Associated with the oscillating member and with each source is an orienting mechanism which rotates packages received from its associated source so that they rest on a common one of their sides, an accumulating mechanism which collects the packages rotated by the orienting mechanism into a group of a predetermined number, a positioning mechanism which positions the grouped packages onto the oscillating member, and a loading mechanism which advances the positioned and grouped packages from the oscillating member into the container.

Abstract: A packaging machine includes a magazine which has a plurality of vertical compartments open at the top and bottom and which is supported for steplike movement between first and second positions in a direction forming an acute angle to a horizontal reference. A pair of adjacent box supports are located below and are parallel to the path of movement of the magazine, and are vertically movable between positions closely adjacent and spaced from the bottom of the magazine. A feed mechanism supplies individual packages to a fixed location above the path of movement of the magazine, the packages dropping into respective magazine compartments as the magazine moves. The feed mechanism can include a shaping mechanism at such fixed location to uniformly shape the individual packages. An inclined guideway supplies boxes to one of the box supports.

Abstract: A machine for the processing of packing containers of the type used for example for milk products. Such packing containers are manufactured from a filled material tube and are first given cushion-shape. With the help of the machine in accordance with the invention they are subsequently converted to a substantially parallelepipedic shape.The machine comprises a means of transport in the form of a wheel (35) having radial holding devices (37) for the cushion-shaped semi-finished products (2). The means of transport can be rotated step-by-step so that each individual packing container passes around processing stations (45-50) placed around the periphery of the means of transport for the folding of corner lugs, sealing and shaping.

Abstract: A package sensing system provides length, width and height signals to a film control system which selects the width and length of stretch film to be used by a film wrapping machine to wrap the sensed package. Package width is sensed by spring biased swing arms which active electrical switches upon deflection by an entering package. A wide package is indicated if both swing arms are deflected. The length and height of a package are sensed by a generally vertical downwardly extending lever arm which is pivotally mounted above the package entryway into the machine. A first electrical switch coupled to the lever arm generates a length signal upon initial contact by an entering package and a second electrical switch coupled to the lever arm generates a height signal depending upon the ultimate deflection of the lever arm by the package.

Abstract: In a stretch film wrapping machine an improved control system provides for automatic or manual selection of one of at least two differing width film rolls and provides individualized wrapping parameters dependent upon the film width selected. Automatic film selection is performed in response to signals identifying the height, width and length of a package to be wrapped which characteristics are sensed or measured by a package sensing system. Both automatic and manual film selection includes timing controls for synchronizing film gripping and clamping apparatus with underfolding apparatus dependent upon the film selected to provide improved control over the tensioning of film wrapped about individual packages.

Abstract: A packing paper supply apparatus for use with a coin packing machine which packs several kinds of coins with packing paper supplied from the supply apparatus. This supply apparatus includes a carriage which is accommodated in the machine body and which is charged with several kinds of the packing paper for the kinds of coins to be packed. A corresponding number of stoppers such as pins or recesses are provided in the outer periphery of the carriage and are arranged to correspond to the kinds of the packing paper. Drive means including an electric motor and a power train of belt and pulley type is used to drive the carriage so that it may rotate. An actuating member such as a bail having its extending end provided with a hook or roller is resiliently biased into abutment contact with one of the stoppers and can be brought into and out of engagement with the selected stopper in a manual manner so that the packing paper selected may be held in its supply position.

Abstract: An apparatus for filling a flexible container has a filling head and a pair of closure removing heads so that while the one container is being filled a filled container is closed and another prepared for filling.

Abstract: A wrapping machine having feed rollers for introducing a web of wrapping material into a wrapping mechanism and including a reel changing device comprising a support mounted on the machine frame, mountings on the support for two reels of wrapping material, guiding means on the support for guiding the webs from the two reels to respective separate draw-off points, the support being movable with respect to the machine frame between alternative positions, in one of which the draw-off point of one web is close to the feed rollers and in the other of which the draw-off point of the other web is close to the feed rollers, and means for locking the support to the machine frame in each of its two alternative positions, the mountings for the reels and the guiding means for the reels being so disposed that, when one reel is feeding wrapping material, a replacement reel placed on the other mounting is accessible to enable the web thereon to be fed through its guiding means to its draw-off point.

Abstract: In a system including a bag forming apparatus for forming a succession of bags, bag filling and closing apparatus, and a conveying apparatus for conveying each bag, after it is formed, along a conveying path from the bag forming apparatus to the filling and closing apparatus, the system production speed is increased by disposing the bag forming apparatus laterally to one side of the conveying path and associating the bag forming apparatus with a bag transporting member arranged to transport each bag, after it has been formed, into the conveying path, whereby the conveying apparatus can convey bags which were previously formed along the conveying path during at least a portion of the bag forming operating cycle of the bag forming apparatus.
