    Abstract: Apparatus and methods are provided for forming a sealed package about a food product, such as a confectionary including a bonbon. A sheet of film having a pre-applied adhesive is wrapped around the food product. The adhesive is positioned on the film so that a fin seal is formed between leading and trailing edge portions of the film in the course of forming a tube about the food product. Adhesive is also positioned on the film so that during the twisting of the open ends of the tube to enclose the food product a seal is formed at each end.

    Abstract: In a device for closing side ends of packages enclosing only one roll or one row of rolls in an automatic packaging machine, operating apparatus are connected to the machine packaging line. A package, partially wrapped by a sheet, is fed to the packaging line in a forward direction, so that only the outer cylindrical surface of the package is touched by the operating apparatus. The operating apparatus translate and rotate the package about an axis, in the forward direction, so that edges of the sheet wrapping the package, during transferring along said packaging line, hit edges of stationary folding apparatus situated beside the packaging line, and become twisted.

    Abstract: The instant invention comprises an apparatus and method for wrapping a load under tension with a web of stretch wrap flexible material and then binding the wrapping material to the load by compressing the end of the flexible material into a rope-like configuration. The rope formed is wound around the load at least one turn. A second turn of the rope around the load is then bound to the first rope with a mechanical twisting tie around the two ropes to prevent unwrapping of the load during transit and storage. A hot wire cutting mechanism cuts the rope and the bound two ropes snap back into position against the wrapped load from the force of the stretch wrap tension.

Pulling pull-tabs 1 (26) and 2 (30) activates the disposal system which releases an air fragrance (36) to mask odors and cause soiled materials to which the personal disposal system is attached to contract and roll into a ball to be engulfed in the inverted pocket (34) of the disposal system (32). Afterwhich, pull-tabs 1 (26) and 2 (30) are tied together into a secure knot for discarding.

    Abstract: A packaging apparatus packages a cylindrical article having a hollow region therein by gathering an end of a wide packaging sheet wrapped around the cylindrical article, and pressing the gathered end into the hollow region in the cylindrical article. The gathered end of the packaging sheet is pressed into the hollow region in the cylindrical article by a presser which has an outside diameter smaller than the diameter of the hollow region and an inside diameter greater than the outside diameter of a core tube used to gather the end of the packaging sheet. The core tube is withdrawn from the hollow region before the gathered end of the packaging sheet is fully pressed into the hollow region by the presser. The packaging apparatus can reliably gather and squeeze a packaging sheet having long opposite ends.
