  • Patent number: 11897671
Abstract: A flat-shaped composite material is represented and described for manufacturing a package, including: a polymer outer layer, a polymer inner layer, a fibrous support layer, which is arranged between the polymer outer layer and the polymer inner layer. The flat-shaped composite material has a plurality of fold lines, which are arranged and designed such that a closed package can be manufactured by folding the flat-shaped composite material along the fold lines and by connecting seam surfaces of the flat-shaped composite material and a sleeve surface. The sleeve surface includes a front surface, a first side surface, a second side surface, a first rear surface and a second rear surface, and base surfaces. The base surfaces include triangular base surfaces, quadrangular base surfaces, and gable surfaces. The gable surfaces include triangular gable surfaces and quadrangular gable surfaces. The base surfaces and the gable surfaces are arranged on opposite sides of the sleeve surface.

  • Patent number: 8011169
Abstract: An ultrasonic sealing device for a top fin of a gable-topped carton includes two jaws consisting of a jaw (2) with a planar active face and constituting the outer end portion of an ultrasonic horn (A1) and a jaw (6) constituting an anvil and having an active surface (10) which is planar except for upper and lower linear ribs (12) and (14) each extending the length of the surface (10). The lower rib (14) is linear and horizontal except for an upwardly bowed middle portion (16). The two jaws (2) and (6) serve to render gas-and-liquid tight a top fin of a conventional, plastics-coated paperboard, gable-top carton. The ribs (12) and (14) produce, in the outer surface of one of the outer sealing panels of the fin, corresponding furrows which extend over the whole length of the fin at levels where the inner sealing panels are sandwiched between the outer sealing panels, so as to seal the top fin in a gas- and liquid-tight manner along its whole length.

  • Publication number: 20100098814
Abstract: The present application provides improved sealed packages and improved methods for making sealed packages. The sealed package includes a first side and a second side, wherein the first side and the second side each comprise a laminate material including an product-side layer and a film layer, the product-side layers of the first and second sides at least partially heat sealed together to form a heat seal between the first and second sides such that the heat seal comprises a stress riser, wherein the heat seal is stronger than the bond between the product-side layer and the film layer of the laminate material.

  • Patent number: 7459769
Abstract: It is an object of the invention to relax magnetic saturation and realize a high-performance magnetic shield effect that is suitable for magnetic devices such as an MRAM. A magnetic shield member of the invention is suitable for a magnetic memory device in which a magnetic random access memory (MRAM) consisting of a TMR element formed by stacking a magnetization fixed layer with a direction of magnetization fixed and a magnetic layer, in which a direction of magnetization can be changed, via a tunnel barrier layer is sealed by a sealing material such as resin.

  • Patent number: 7323665
Abstract: A heating element for a film-sealing apparatus comprises a heating wire segment formed of a first metal having a first reflectance to laser radiation of a predetermined wavelength. The heating element further comprises a first conductor lead comprising a wire having one end joined to a first end of the heating wire segment, and a second conductor lead comprising a wire having one end joined to a second end of the heating wire segment. The first and second conductor leads have a lower electrical resistance than the heating wire segment, and are formed of a second metal having a second reflectance to laser radiation of the predetermined wavelength, the second reflectance being higher than the first reflectance. Each of the first and second conductor leads is lap-welded to the respective end of the heating wire segment using laser radiation of the predetermined wavelength.

  • Patent number: 6986232
Abstract: An ultrasonic sealing apparatus prevents a sealing failure by preventing a tunnel (through passage) to form in the step portions in the vicinity of both end portions of longitudinally sealed portions, when the tubular laminated packaging material is transversely ultrasonically sealed. An ultrasonic sealing apparatus, in which a laminated packaging material containing a thermoplastic resin layer and a paper layer is formed into a tubular form and the tubular laminated packaging material is transversely ultrasonic sealed, includes a horn having an elongated and flat sealing face and an opposing jaw having an elongated pressing face which presses the laminated packaging material in cooperation with the sealing face of the horn, wherein the center portion in longitudinal direction of the pressing face of the opposing jaw is narrower than both end portions of the pressing face. Further, at a center portion in longitudinal direction of a pressing face of the opposing jaw, a recess having an arc shape, etc.

  • Patent number: 6502372
Abstract: An apparatus and method for sealing a sealing area of a packaging container in which the sealing area has a predetermined exterior shape. The apparatus includes a generator, a horn and an anvil. The anvil has an abutting portion that conforms to the exterior shape of the sealing area of the packaging container. The plurality of slidable plates may be composed of a ferromagnetic material, a paramagnetic material or a ceramic material. The plurality of slidable plates are supported on an elastic sleeve that allows for the inward movement of the plates when the force exerted by the horn on the sealing area exceeds the elastic force of the sleeve thereby allowing the corresponding plurality of slidable plates to conform to the exterior shape of the sealing area of the packaging container. An electromagnet may be used to restrict the movement of the slidable plates subsequent to their conforming to the exterior shape of the sealing area.

  • Patent number: 6430899
Abstract: A top sealer for a form, fill and seal packaging machine includes first and second anvils disposed on opposing sides of a processing path of the machine. The anvils are configured to move transverse to the processing path for engaging the top fins of each of the cartons and compressing the fins for forming the carton top seal portion. A first wedge section is mounted to the first anvil and a second wedge section is mounted to the second anvil. The first wedge section includes a raised portion extending from a face of the wedge. The first wedge is mounted to the anvil to contact the raised portion with a first vertical panel/extended gable panel juncture contemporaneous with the anvils engaging the top fins. Contact of the raised portion with the first vertical panel/extended gable panel juncture forms a crease at that juncture. A method for forming a top seal at the fin panels and a crease at the juncture is also disclosed.
