Means To Cool Seam Patents (Class 53/375.3)
  • Patent number: 8539740
Abstract: Filling and packaging machine (10) includes supply pipe (13) for supplying contents into film (10), squeeze rollers (16) for feeding film (1) downward and horizontal seal mechanism (100) for sealing in the contents supplied into film (1). Horizontal seal mechanism (11) includes heating unit (120) having a pair of seal bars for heat-sealing film (1) and cooling/cutting unit (140), placed under the cooling/cutting unit, having a pair of cooling bars for cooling a heat-sealed portion of film 1. Cooling/cutting unit (140) is movable in a vertical direction so that the cooling bars can be positioned between the seal bars while the seal bars are opened.

Abstract: A system is provided for filling and sealing bags and is especially useful with woven polybags formed of thermoplastic material. The system includes a plastic welder having a folding device for folding over a portion of the filled bag which is sealed by a welding tip and pinch rollers. The welding tip may be moved between welding and non-welding positions based on a bag sensor or timer. A contact prevention member prevents the welding tip from contacting and damaging a coating on a portion of the bag. The system is configured to form a substantial seam without using hot melt adhesive.

  • Patent number: 8069637
Abstract: A system for sealing thermoplastic film includes one or more bag sealing units, each comprising a lower vacuum platen and a vacuum chamber cover adapted for sealing engagement on the platen to form a vacuum chamber. A sealing bar assembly includes a sealing bar designed for constant heated operation and a pair of cooling plates which function as heat sinks. The sealing bar assembly is pneumatically reciprocated between a raised, disengaged position and a lowered position with the sealing bar engaging the neck of a bag for hermetically sealing same. The cooling plates clamp the bag neck against a sealing support assembly. A method of sealing a thermoplastic film bag includes the steps of placing a packaging object in a thermoplastic bag and placing the bag on a cradle with the bag neck extending over a bag support assembly. A. vacuum chamber cover is placed on the platen and evacuated to form a vacuum chamber. A sealing bar assembly melds the thermoplastic to form a sealed area across the bag neck.

  • Patent number: 6460317
Abstract: A device for manufacturing, filling and sealing thermoplastic sacks comprises a station, which comprises a forward draw unit for intermittently pulling forward a web of thermoplastic blown film and for its suspended feed in a vertical direction through a cross welding and cross severing mechanism, which provides the leading end of the blown film web with a cross weld and severs from said web a tubular segment above a gripping and transport mechanism. In order to pass the leading end of the blown film web quickly and without limply withdrawing to one side through the cross weld and cross severing mechanism into a stretched hanging position, there is a wall parallel to the feed path of the blown film web, and above the wall there are in its top region blowing air nozzles, facing the feed direction, between the wall and the feed path.

  • Patent number: 6212861
Abstract: A forming, filling and sealing machine comprises three sealing mechanisms for heat sealing a film, a folding mechanism for inwardly folding the width direction middle part of the film along the longitudinal direction of the film, and an injection pipe for injecting in filling materials. A first sealing mechanism heat seals a long sheet film to be carried downwards with both side ends overlapped with each other, the heat sealing being applied to the overlapped both side ends along the longitudinal direction of the film. A second sealing mechanism heat seals at least the top of two ridge portions formed by the folding mechanism in the film along the longitudinal direction of the film. A third sealing mechanism is disposed below the injection pipe for horizontally heat sealing the film and cutting the heat sealed portion.
