Abstract: An apparatus for closing and sealing a preformed polypropylene bag after a bale has been inserted therein as the bale and bag traverse along a longitudinal line of travel. Left and right rotatable side flaps fold the left and right bag closure flaps onto the bale. A bottom rotatable fold plate partially folds the bag bottom closure flap and a top fold bar is extended and folds the top bag closure flap onto the bale. The bottom fold plate then folds the bag bottom closure flap onto the bale. The top and bottom bag closure flaps are sandwiched between the rotatable side flaps and the bottom fold plate and over a slack bar therebetween forming a slack portion. A heating assembly directs heat to the slack portion melting the polypropylene and a press plate is extended to the slack melted portion thereby fusing the bag closure flaps together.

  • Patent number: 8181427
Abstract: A system having an upstream module M for storing cardboard blanks, a central module C with a device for taking the blanks from the magazine, and a downstream packing and packaging module V having a station where the blanks are erected. The extractor arm is mounted on a carriage which is movable so as to move the blanks lengthwise and the arm is movable relative to the carriage by an actuating mechanism which enables the arm to articulate about an axis. The distance D between the exit edge of the magazine and the reference point of the station is fixed, and the carriage controls the movements of the blank extracted from the magazine in order to avert the risk of interference with the magazine and to position the blank in the station to enable it to be erected, and this for a whole range of forms of blanks.

Abstract: The device (1) is associated, in line, to an outlet of a packing machine and is designed to seal superposed flaps (Ls, Li) of packs (C), at longitudinal vertical sides (V) thereof. The device includes apparatus (2) for receiving and moving the packs (C) and includes two batteries (3, 4) of heat-welding rollers (30, 40), having a vertical axis, for acting on respective longitudinal vertical sides (V) in order to heat the flaps (Ls, Li) up to a temperature which is sufficient to cause joining by aggregation of the packing material. Cooling is provided downstream of the batteries (3, 4) for acting on the flaps (Ls, Li) in order to lower the temperature thereof and thus stabilize the joint.

  • Patent number: 7269933
Abstract: A case sealer has a frame with a low friction conveyor upon which boxes are moved in series through three stages, each having an independent pair of spaced-apart, lateral conveyors that are linked together for inward and outward movement to accommodate the width of the box to be sealed. A first measuring stage measures the height, width and length of the box. A second flap folding stage has a floating head located over its lateral conveyors and is responsive to the height and width of the box and folds the box end and side flaps into a closed position. When a box enters the flap folding stage, the lateral conveyors in the measuring stage open to accept the next box, and based on the speed of the lateral conveyors and the measured length of the previous box, a gate allows the next box to enter the measuring stage as soon as the previous box has cleared the measuring stage.

  • Patent number: 7073308
Abstract: By providing two endless loop belt drive assemblies forming a belt driven sealing section, a highly efficient and effective automatic, universally applicable, container closing system has been achieved which is capable of securely lockingly engaging both locking lug/receiving well containers and perimeter seal containers. In the present invention, the two cooperating endless loop belt drive systems are mounted in juxtaposed, spaced, cooperating relationship with each other and are positioned for simultaneously closing and securely engaging the entire locking elements formed on the flanges of one side of the container. In addition, the spaced distance between the two belt drive assemblies is adjustable, as well as the position of the spaced distance relative to a conveyor. In this way, all containers are to be closed by this system.

  • Patent number: 6202391
Abstract: A unitary panel sorting and packing machine receives vinyl siding panels from an extruded production line. The machine includes a panel receiving section which includes lifting and flipper arms for selectively inverting panels for packing efficiency. From the panel receiving section, the panels are transferred to a panel accumulation section. The machine also includes a box folding section for folding corrugated paper box blanks along predetermined score lines. The box folding section is preferably parallel and adjacent to the panel receiving section and the panel accumulation section and includes retractable arms which selectively position the box in a ready position for packing panels therein. After the box is full, conveyor mechanisms carry the box from the box folding section through a box lid glue applying station and then into a box end folding and gluing station. This machine can substantially reduce repetitive stress caused injury to the operator.
