With Package Stationary During Closing Patents (Class 53/376.8)
  • Patent number: 8225583
Abstract: A closing apparatus for closing preferably bag-type packaging units by compression, which units have regions of differing thickness along the package opening to be closed, such as square bottom bags for instance, in particular made of coated or uncoated paper, paperboard, plastic, film, and/or woven material, which packaging units have at least one suitable sealing surface that is integrated in or applied to the material for permanent bonding to a surface that is adjacent to or opposite and pressed against the material, wherein the closing apparatus has a pressing device with at least one pressure device and at least one counter-pressure device between which the packaging units can be compressed, preferably with the application of heat, in the region of their sealing surface(s). In order to achieve a uniformly durable closure, the pressure device and the counter-pressure device have zones of different pressure and/or different temperature along the package opening to be closed.

  • Patent number: 7788884
Abstract: A system (10) for automatically dispensing a strip of dunnage to a container (14) includes a dispenser (12) having an outlet (92) from which the dispenser can feed a length of a strip of dunnage lengthwise, a container support (36) for supporting a container (14) thereon, and a pusher device (114) at the outlet (92) for pushing, more particularly propelling, a trailing end of the strip of dunnage from the outlet (92) toward the container support (36). The outlet (92) is aligned with the container support (36). Thus the outlet (92) is positioned relative to a container (14) such that the strip will curl or fold back and forth upon itself within the confines of the container (14) as it is being fed from the outlet (92). A container closer (120, 130 and 32) automatically closes the flaps (80 and 82) of the container (14).

  • Patent number: 6837029
Abstract: A carton closure method wherein heated end side walls of the open end of a carton are initially infolded to partially close the open end of the carton and thereafter subjected to capture between a backup pad and a pressure pad by a linearly reciprocative cam to which pressure is applied by a cam follower driven in a direction substantially perpendicular to the direction of linear movement of the cam relative to the backup pad, whereby the cam is moved between positions wherein there is applied pressure against the partially infolded portions of the end side walls of a carton blank to effect a sealing pressure against such infolded portions and a position wherein no material pressure is applied to the partially infolded end side walls of the carton blank, the cam movement being facilitated by a multi-faceted geometry of the camming face of the cam.
