With Means To Advance Package During Closing Patents (Class 53/377.8)
  • Publication number: 20140090339
Abstract: A system including multiple bags each having a first adhesive material on a first panel, and second adhesive material on a stepped construction of the bag, and a third section of each bag being free of adhesive, further including a hot air manifold along which the bag is conveyed after the bag has been filled with contents and closed, which heats the first adhesive material and the second adhesive material to their adhesive states; a section of the hot air manifold along which the third section free of adhesive is conveyed, which minimizes adhesive contamination; a blade to bias the stepped construction of the bag to follow along the manifold; and a trailing end of the blade to fold the bag along its third section without displacing or expelling adhesive from the third section, which minimizes adhesive contamination of surfaces of the bag.

  • Patent number: 8499532
Abstract: A method for clearing stalled containers in a taping or other container sealer includes the steps of (i) conveying a container to a sealing station, (ii) sealing the container with a sealer at the sealing station as the container travels through the sealing station, (iii) detecting a stalled container in the sealing station, and (iv) raising the sealer upon detection of a stalled container in the sealing station to relieve the stalled condition so that the container travels through the sealing station and is sealed by the sealer. Raising the sealer can clear the stalled container, thereby minimizing or eliminating events that require an operator's attention.

  • Patent number: 7308784
Abstract: Apparatus for packaging articles in clear clamshell packages includes a pair of parallel relatively narrow, laterally spaced apart conveyor belts that support there-between a package in open position by its opposing side peripheries. A stack of packages is supported in nested configuration adjacent the front end of the conveyor and de-nester mechanism withdraws packages there-from and places them on the conveyor. As the package is advanced a robotic arm picks and places articles of commerce and associated product information card in the package cavity. A rotating roller coated with UV-responsive adhesive coats raised male surfaces of the advancing package. Next an air knife sends a jet of air upwardly to cause the open package lid to rotate upwardly to cover the article-receiving portion. A driven roller presses the lid downwardly to fully close it and cause the adhesive coated surfaces to fully engage the corresponding grooves on the article-receiving portion.

  • Patent number: 7131246
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping groups of rolls of products with a sheet of film comprises a station for packaging and moving, with a stepping motion, in a predetermined direction, a succession of groups of products wrapped in a sheet of film, having an open front side defined by two opposite flaps, and means for closing the open side comprising a unit consisting of: two pairs of mobile elements, arranged side by side in said direction, to allow the flaps of film of the two groups of products arranged one after another to be brought together and closed; first movement means for the unit, allowing synchronized movement of the two pairs of elements, respectively, in the same direction as the groups, for one group feed step, bringing together and closing the flaps, and a movement opposite to said direction over a distance equal to the distance previously traveled, simultaneously with a feed step of the groups to be packaged, so as to position the unit at two further and subsequent groups of products to be closed.

  • Patent number: 6764576
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method and an apparatus for forming and thermosealing one end of a packaging container which is manufactured from thermosealing material. The packaging container is placed in a conveyor which brings it into contact with mechanical forming devices (22) which progressively reform the packaging container end so that a sealing fin (6) oriented in the direction of movement of the packaging container is formed. In a subsequent sealing station (12), thermoplastic material located in the sealing fin (6) is heated to sealing temperature, whereafter wall portions included in the sealing fin are mechanically urged against one another during simultaneous cooling and continued advancement.

  • Patent number: 6516589
Abstract: A method and machine for wrapping a product in a sheet of heat-seal wrapping material, whereby the product is wrapped in the sheet of wrapping material to form a product having an outer wrapping in turn having three distinct overlap portions, i.e. portions having at least two superimposed layers of the sheet of wrapping material; and the outer wrapping is stabilized, as the product is conveyed continuously inside a respective same pocket, by a seal formed at each of the three overlap portions.
