Abstract: A method of packaging a plurality of food containers and a package for food containers are disclosed. The method is fast and inexpensive and optimizes the use of cardboard or paperboard to make the package without plastics and may be used in the mass production of packaging for containers. The package is defined by a plurality of containers placed on a tray of optimal dimensions according to the dimensions of the containers. The tray is creased and has two side flaps that can be rotated to attach to the side faces of the containers by glue. The extension of the flaps is proportional to the height of the containers and the flaps can be punched in order to have aesthetically appreciable shapes and to reduce the bulk and the risk of breaking the package made.

Abstract: A device for heating wrapped batches of products and a packaging installation provided with such a heating device, specifically having a manifold of heating elements with lines of orifices and a blocking device for the orifices using a mobile plate having for each line of orifices openings, at least two successive openings having different lengths, to go the direction of movement a) from a position blocking at least a first line of orifices and opening at least a second line of orifices, b) to another position opening the first line of orifices whilst maintaining open the second line of orifices.

Abstract: A method, apparatus and program product implement top layer containment operations to optimize containment of various types of loads such as loads with top/slip sheets, ragged topographies, and/or inboard portions. Bidirectional control of the elevation of a web of packaging material may be performed within one or more revolutions between a load and a packaging material dispenser to selectively engage one or more corners of the load with a web of packaging material while passing the web of packaging material inwardly of one or more other corners of the load.

Abstract: A fuel cell includes a fuel cell stack. A pressure plate is arranged on one side of the fuel cell stack. The pressure plate includes a hole, and a tie rod assembly has a tie rod received in the hole. A nut with a conical surface is secured to the tie rod. An isolator is arranged in the hole between the tie rod assembly and the pressure plate. The isolator has a conical portion, and the conical surface engages the conical portion to provide a conical interface. The tie rod assembly applies a clamp load on the fuel cell stack via the conical interface.

Abstract: A resealable wet or dry application roller container, with optional disposable insert liner, for the sealed storage and transportation of a wet or dry application roller, either by itself, or while remaining attached to the application roller frame, and after rolling off any excess paint from a wet application roller, and being sealed within container, with, or without, optional disposable insert liner, does not leak regardless of orientation.

Abstract: A filling device (3) and a filling method for fibrous material (6) on a bale press (1). The filling device (3) is arranged between a fiber supply (2) and a pressing device (5) of the bale press and comprises a collecting chamber (9) for the fibrous material (6) with a supply opening (16) as well as a discharge opening (17) with a controllable closure (18). A driven slide (25) of an integrated precompression device (4) is movable in a reversing manner between the openings (16, 17), which precompresses the collected fibrous material in one or more stages in the collection chamber (9) before collected fibrous material is transferred to the pressing device.

Abstract: In a method for wrapping a band around at least one object of at least one object, in which the at least one object is wrapped with a band, wherein the band in the form of an object-band loop is arranged around the at least one object in such a manner that at least two sections of the band are made to overlap and are connected together, wherein in an area in which the at least two band sections are made to overlap, a counter-pressure plate is introduced between the at least one object and the band, and the at least two overlapping band sections are pressed against the counter-pressure plate to connect them, prior to the introduction of the counter-pressure plate the band is passed through a band guiding device and/or positioned such that a defined free space is created for introducing the counter-pressure plate.

Abstract: An applicator is disclosed for applying sealant to a moving substrate. The applicator includes a wheel having a periphery. A plurality of spaced apart footprints extends around the periphery of the wheel and each footprint has a sealant receiving feature. A reservoir is provided for containing a supply of sealant to be applied to the moving substrate. The wheel is rotatably mounted at least partially in the reservoir such that as the wheel rotates, each of the spaced apart footprints repeatedly moves through a supply of sealant in the reservoir to pick up a charge of sealant, around one side of the wheel toward the moving substrate, adjacent the moving substrate to transfer the sealant charge to the substrate, and around the other side of the wheel back toward the supply of sealant. At least one stop is formed on each of the footprints for inhibiting sealant picked up by the footprint from being urged rearwardly on the footprint by high speed rotation of the wheel.

Abstract: An apparatus for producing packages of infusion products, such as a bag filled with a dosed quantity of a product, a tag and a length of thread attached at opposite ends to the bag and to the tag respectively, includes a closing station of the filled bag, a feeding group of the closed bag and of the tag, a sewing station for sewing each length of thread to the tags and to the bags, and an inlet station to a winding group for winding the stitched length of the thread around the bag.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for dispensing a predetermined amount of pre-stretched film based upon load girth. An amount of pre-stretched film to be dispensed for at least a portion of a relative revolution between a film dispenser and a load is determined based upon the girth of the load to be wrapped. Good wrapping performance in terms of load containment (wrap force) and optimum film use may be obtained by dispensing a length of pre-stretched film that is between approximately 100% and approximately 130% of load girth. Once the amount of film to be dispensed per relative revolution is determined, a ratio of final pre-stretch surface speed to relative revolutions (i.e., number of pre-stretch roller revolutions/relative rotation) can be set. Thus, for the at least a portion of a revolution of the rotating ring and dispenser, a predetermined amount of film is dispensed and wrapped around the load.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method for producing a tampon having an absorbent body that absorbs fluid and a string that is attached to the absorbent body, the method includes: attaching the string to the absorbent body; causing a regulation section to regulate movement of the absorbent body; causing a holding section to hold the string; and applying a tensile force to the string by increasing a distance in a longitudinal direction of the absorbent body between the regulation section and the holding section.

Abstract: A method for controlling a braking mechanism for a supply roll with wrapping material for a round baler that passes through a first phase wherein, after detection of sufficient crop material in the baling chamber, wrapping material is brought up to the baling chamber and introduced into the baling chamber. The braking mechanism provides a higher braking force during the wrapping operation than the first phase. The wrapping operation is started on detection of movement in the wrapping material. This prevents the braking mechanism from being activated prematurely and leaves sufficient time to deactivate the braking mechanism after the wrapping operation.

Abstract: A method for furnishing containers with labels by transferring a label to a container that rotates about an axis thereof with a circumferential container-velocity includes using a label transfer element while the container rotates with a first circumferential container-velocity, and rolling and brushing the label onto the container as the container rotates with a second circumferential container-velocity. During brushing, the second circumferential container-velocity momentarily exceeds the first circumferential container-velocity.

Abstract: A building structure for covering a large object with a cover comprising: multiple frames, each frame being part of a building structure); at least one motor suspended from at least one of said plurality of frames and connected to one or more spools; and an arm lifting structure suspended from the frame and comprising: at least two arms; a plurality of lifting connectors, each attached on one end to an arm on a first end and attached to one of the spools on a second end; and at least one fastening roller member mounted to each arm for temporarily securing the cover to the arms. Alternate embodiments of the building structure include laterally and/or longitudinally translating motors and/or guides for ensuring the that arms are raised and lowered straight up and down.

A first welder welds ends the film wrapper together at one of the side faces of the stack. A fold-over device folding the film sections over onto the top face of the stack. A second welder welds the folded-over film sections together on the top face of the stack.

Abstract: A device for applying sleeve labels on objects which are moving continuously along a predetermined trajectory on a transport mechanism, having an ejection unit, a detection unit, a memory unit and a control unit. The ejection unit ejects sleeve labels, and the detection unit detects objects moving on the transport mechanism and issues a detection signal that specifies a position of the object at least one point in time. The control unit controls the ejection unit and triggers the ejection of a sleeve label depending on the detection signal and a control parameter stored in the memory unit, wherein a position at which the object is located at the start of the ejection process can be changed by changing the control parameter.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of packaging a curved product with a concave back surface that includes positioning the curved product in contact with a suspension pad that includes a notch on the top and bottom edges then stretch wrapping a stretch film around the curved product and the suspension pad with the wrap received in the first and second notches to secure the curved product to the suspension pad which bends the suspension pad to form a planar curve shape that conforms to the periphery of the back surface of the product and minimizes the distance between the product and the pad and increases the surface contact area between the product and the pad.

Abstract: An apparatus for at least partially folding outer packaging includes a conveyor that transports the outer packaging, a first folder, a second folder, and a set of one or more rotating folders that are part of the second folder. The first folders swivel on the conveyor and fold a front side segment of the outer package that adjoins its base segment and connecting segments that are hinged relative to the base segment. The second folders are above the conveyor device and are configured to fold connecting segments that are hinged relative to the base segment of the outer package. The second folders act on the front side segment of the outer package in a direction oriented against an effective direction of the first folding device around a fold line running in the particular connecting segments.

Abstract: The present invention is a device and method for preventing damage to cargo during shipment on a trailer bed. The device consists of a foam cylinder having a density, a height, and a circumferential diameter. The device may alternatively consist of an open foam cylinder defining a hollow space and having a density, a height, an outer circumferential diameter, and an inner circumferential diameter. When the device is placed on the top of a cargo load, and a length of chain is extended over the device and secured to the trailer bed such that the chain does not contact the cargo, the cargo is secured and damage to the cargo from direct contact with the chain is prevented.

Abstract: A method for forming floral packaging materials from oxo-biodegradable polymeric materials is provided. Methods of utilizing such floral packaging materials are also provided.

Abstract: A novel enclosure is used to prevent health-care-associated infections caused by contamination of devices such as cellular telephones, laptops, tablet computers, purses, and briefcases. Such a device is placed into the enclosure and is carried into a disinfected or clean environment, such as an operating room. The enclosure prevents infectious agents or other contaminants on the surface of the device from contaminating the clean environment. The enclosure also protects the environments outside the operating room from contaminants within the operating room. The enclosure is inexpensively manufactured and disposable. The enclosure may include an effective amount of antibacterial, antifungal, and/or antiviral compounds. The enclosure may be used in the residence of an individual with a compromised immune system. The enclosure may be used to bring a device into and out of a home or room of an individual who is extremely neat or is inflicted with an obsessive-compulsive disorder.

Abstract: A net wrapping system includes an insertion assembly configured to move between a home position and an insert position. The insertion assembly has at least one insertion assembly spreader roll configured to engage net wrapping from a net roll. The net wrapping system also includes a fixed spreader roll proximate to the net roll and configured to engage the net wrapping along a length of the fixed spreader roll circumferential surface when the insertion assembly is in the home position. The net wrapping system further includes a back wrap roll located along a net path between the fixed spreader roll and the at least one insertion assembly spreader roll and configured to cause the net wrapping to maintain engagement with substantially the same length of the fixed spreader roll circumferential surface when the insertion assembly is in the insert position.

Abstract: An attachment for protecting a substantially flat article comprising a first portion that includes a body and a plurality of finger-like projections and a second portion that includes a body portion and a plurality of finger-like projections is disclosed. The first and second portions define 90° angle. The attachment is formed from a foamed polymerized material, such as a resilient foamed material. The attachment is cut into the first and second portions. The first portion is placed on one side of the corner of the flat article. The second portion is turned over and the interlocking finger-like projections of the second component are fitted to the interlocking finger-like projections of the first portion. As a variation of the use of the disclosed invention the first and second portions may be cut at their corners to allow the first and second portions to be fitted to an edge of the flat article.

Abstract: A wrapping system for plant material utilizes a first wrapping material dispenser disposed along a first upper periphery of a compacting chamber, and a second wrapping material dispenser opposite the first dispenser, for automatically dispensing sheets of wrapping material in overlapping relation over the chamber and plant material therein. The system includes apparatus for joining the overlapping sheets together. The system is automatically operable to dispense sheets of the material in overlapping relation over the chamber and join them for receiving a flow of the plant material thereon. Before or while the plant material is received, the sheets are further dispensed to move downwardly in the chamber to receive and wrap about the plant material. The system then dispenses opposite ends of the sheets in overlapping relation over the material and joins the ends to complete the wrapper.

Abstract: Disclosed is a process for providing drinking water. First, a body of water is selected that has a geothermal floor creating a substantial range of depths where temperatures remain homogeneous, and an oxic to anoxic transition level at about 150 meters depth. Next, a conduit or other device is used to remove water from below the transition level. The removed water is then bottled or otherwise packaged for marketing.

Abstract: A deployable, customizable vase-like container for presenting a cookie arrangement of one or more cookies each on a support stick includes a platform having one or more anchors and planar material foldable to form a contiguous wall surrounding the anchor(s). The contiguous wall includes one or more connectors for holding the contiguous wall adjacent the platform, and a rear display panel is included having a lower portion nesting inside the contiguous wall. The platform may include a pedestal extending below the contiguous wall and a slot for engaging the contiguous wall. The planar material may corrugated cardboard, including a foldable, planar die-cut cardboard material. The contiguous wall may include a decorative scalloped top edge, while the rear display panel may have decorative printing on at least one side.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to structures that are adapted to facilitate the retention, storage, and transport of arrows. In one embodiment of the present disclosure, for example, an arrow retainer is described that includes a resilient portion having a plurality of passageways extending therethrough for retaining a plurality of arrows therein. Each passageway is resiliently expandable upon insertion of an arrow to maintain the position of the arrow. In another embodiment of the present disclosure, for example, an arrow storage device is disclosed that provides an efficient and secure means of storing arrows. The presently disclosed arrow retainer and arrow storage device may be used in conjunction with one another as part of an arrow storage system.

Abstract: A wine bottle wrap for promoting the contents of the bottle, the brand, or the entity that produced or is presenting the bottle for sale. The wine bottle wrap is generally made of paper, sized and shaped to be easily wrapped around a bottle, such as a wine bottle. The paper will include printed words and drawings or other images that can both identify the contents of the bottle and provide other marketing material. In a preferred embodiment, at least some of the bottle is visible in a gap in the wrap, preferably at the bottom of the bottle.

Abstract: A chainsaw bar assembly includes a chainsaw bar, a chain and a first packaging material. The chainsaw bar includes a chainsaw body engagement portion configured to engage a body of a chainsaw proximate to a drive member. The chain is provided for operable engagement with the chainsaw bar. The first packaging material is applied at a portion of the chainsaw bar that is forward of the chainsaw body engagement portion. The first packaging material holds the chain affixed to the chainsaw bar to enable engagement of the chain to the drive member of the chainsaw and engagement of the chainsaw bar to the body of the chainsaw without removal of the first packaging material.

Abstract: An improved net cutting assembly that may be used with an agricultural baler net wrapping system. More particularly, an up-cut net knife for improved cutting of wrapping material (e.g., a net) used to wrap bales of crop material in an agricultural baler. The up-cut net knife assembly improves net cutting performance by providing an up-cut net knife that moves in the same direction as the net whereby the motion of the net helps the knife get into the cut position. Further, embodiments of the up-cut knife assembly move the up-cut knife cutting edge at substantially the same speed and in the same direction as the net to be cut. This motion of the up-cut knife allows the up-cut knife to be lifted up into the net motion using a driver and then to continue on with no relative motion—or at least minimal relative motion of the knife to the net—until the knife gets into the cut position. In the cut position, the knife stops and the net is pulled against the knife blade resulting in cutting the net.

Abstract: A product roll packaging apparatus includes a transfer unit for lifting and transferring a product roll from a conveyor, a wrapping unit for wrapping a protective sheet around the roll and attaching an end thereof with an adhesive tape, a protective sheet supply unit for cutting off the sheet from a sheet roll and supplying it along a protective sheet path line to the wrapping unit, and a tape supply unit for supplying the tape to the end of the cut sheet. The transfer unit includes a position correcting mechanism for establishing a reference line depending on the roll size, and bringing a reference end face of the roll into alignment with a vertical plane including the reference line. The protective sheet supply unit includes an edge position control mechanism for bringing a reference edge of the sheet into alignment with the reference line corresponding to the roll size.

Abstract: A method and a device for handling containers is described, wherein the containers are transported along a predetermined transport path and combined with at least one other product, the amount of which can be determined, in such a way that the product is fed to each individual container in a predetermined feed area of the transport path, wherein the other product is routed along a feed path to the feed area. At least one characterizing state is determined in a detection area disposed upstream relative to the feed area in a direction of transport of the containers, the state being characteristic of a number of containers fed, and a residual amount for the product that remains to be fed to the predetermined feed area until the product is switched is determined as a function of this characteristic state.

Abstract: A method of packaging a hole saw includes positioning a circular cutting edge portion of the hole saw against a surface of a base member of a hang tag assembly. The base member includes a post that extends from the surface into a hollow interior defined by the hole saw. A cap member of the hang tag assembly is positioned adjacent a mounting portion of the hole saw. The cap member includes a stem and a display card portion. The stem is advanced through a bore defined in the mounting portion and into the hollow interior of the hole saw. The post is then secured to the stem within the hollow interior of the hole saw.

Abstract: A method and system is provided which a lamp packaging, shipping, and/or display device including a shell comprising a support column and base receptacle, a base support and a backplane support. The support column terminates above the lamp but allows access to the shade attachment area for fitting the lamp with various lamp shades without removing the lamp from the packaging. The support column also provides support for the lamp and for stacking of multiple units during shipment, storage, or display.

Abstract: A display device for merchandising hair accessories is provided. The display device includes a first set of hair accessories and a second set of hair accessories. Each hair accessory of the first set of hair accessories is of a different accessory type and has a first color. Each hair accessory of the first set is provided with packaging that includes a first colored area indicative of a hair color of a user that best matches the first color. Each hair accessory of the second set of hair accessories is of a different accessory type and has a second color different from the first color. Each hair accessory of the second set is provided with packaging that includes a second colored area indicative of a hair color of a user that best matches the second color.

The ribbon routing assembly includes a body with a void. The body includes a first leg configured for securing to the first end of the ribbon and a second leg configured for securing to the second end of the ribbon. The void includes a routing edge that defines a first acute angle relative to the first leg and a second acute angle relative to the second leg. The first and second acute angles are approximately forty-five degrees. The body has a first surface and a second surface that define a thickness therebetween, the first leg defines a first length and the second leg defines a second length. A lid is configured for mounting to the body in a mounted configuration.

Abstract: The invention is a protective container for transporting an enclosed object such as a flat screen television or other flat screen monitor. The protective covering includes two flaps and a base having soft padding material on their inner surfaces. An open configuration is essentially flat, allowing a monitor to be easily positioned on the covering. The flaps fold up to transform the protective container into a closed configuration, with straps or other connectors holding the flaps in place. The protective container has various features making it convenient to move manually and to transport in a delivery truck. The protective container is more convenient to use than the prior art, and can be manufactured from relatively inexpensive materials.

Abstract: A package for tobacco material includes a portion of tobacco material, a wrapper enclosing the portion of tobacco material, a rigid base portion and at least one resealable adhesive label sealing the wrapper around the portion of tobacco material. The wrapper is formed of a flexible sheet material. The package may include an opening strip defined by one or more lines of weakness in the wrapper.

Abstract: Methods and machines are provided for forming a five-sided carton of packages of smoking articles. A piece of film material is applied to a plurality of packages of smoking articles such that five sides of the plurality of packages are at least partially covered by the film material, but the sixth side remains uncovered. The film material is applied such that the group of packages is sufficiently tightly bound so that none of the packages may slip free from the carton. The sixth side of the plurality of packages in the carton remains exposed so that tax stamps may be easily applied. The film of material may be applied so that a gap is formed relative to the sixth side.
