The tub includes a body having one or more walls extending from a base, an opening, a neck formed around the opening and extending out from the body to form a lip, and a shelf disposed on an inner perimeter of the neck and below the lip. The container also includes a removable insert disposed below the lip and above the contents. The removable insert includes a scoop implement for dispensing the contents, and an outer frame removably coupled to the scoop implement, the outer frame configured to rest on the shelf and support the scoop implement above the contents. The container also includes a closure configured to removably cover the opening.

The sealing system includes a finish configured to engage a compressible gasket within a closure. The molded cap is dimensioned so that, when the beverage bottle is closed, the impression of an upper-band mouth arises.

Abstract: A composite closure for a container having carbonated contents includes an outer closure cap having a top wall portion, and an annular depending skirt portion. A disc-shaped sealing liner is positioned within the closure cap adjacent the inside surface of the top wall portion. The liner includes an inwardly facing sealing portion at the periphery thereof, and further includes an annular seal bead which projects downwardly from the liner in a direction away from the top wall portion. The closure is configured for enhanced sealing with an associated container, with the top wall portion of the outer closure cap preferably including a relatively thick, peripheral reinforcing region which overlies the annular seal bead of the liner for further enhancing sealing.

Abstract: Various embodiments of a sealing member disposed between a container body and an endpiece attached thereto are disclosed, as well as a method for disposing a sealing member between an endpiece and a container body. In one embodiment, a sealing member is disposed within a space between a container body flange and a corresponding portion of the sidewall of the container body, is disposed between a space between an endpiece flange and a corresponding portion of an endpiece wall, and is further disposed between the endpiece flange and container body flange. As such, the sealing member has a generally S-shaped configuration in cross-section. At least one and preferably two scores are incorporated on the sealing member to facilitate at least a partial removal of the endpiece from the container body so as to be able to access the contents of the container.

Abstract: A closure system including a cap and a container, the cap having a seal adapted to be deformed by a deformation producing arrangement in the lip of the container which causes the seal to deformed wherein when the cap is moved and the deformation in the seal is no longer aligned with the deformation producing arrangement in the container the seal is broken. Caps and containers included within the system and methods of manufacture and use of the system are also disclosed.

Abstract: A tamper-indicating container closure includes a closure member defining container closing expanse, a tamper-indicating element in the closure interiorly of the closure member and times movable with the closure member for both retaining the tamper-indicating element with the closure and for selectively tearing the tamper-indicating element. The movable times are inaccessible through the closing expanse of the closure member and the closure affords visibility therethrough of the condition of the tamper-indicating element.In a typical jar container embodiment, the closure includes a cap having a disc-shaped rupturable telltale interiorly of the cap depending skirt and telltale retaining-tearing times extending from the cap interior surface downwardly into securement with the telltale disc and movable with the cap in the course of its rotative movement.

Abstract: A method of constructing a closure and applying it to a container to provide a hermetically sealed, tamper-indicating package which can be easily opened without danger of contaminating the container contents by fragmentation of the sealing element. The sealing element is formed as a laminated liner disk haivng an inner foil layer and an outer tough thermoplastic layer. A heat sealing layer allows the liner disk to be hermetically sealed to the container by induction heating after the closure is attached to the container. A frangible opening line is created by melting through the thermoplastic layer and heat sealing layer to the metal foil layer.

Abstract: Closures for a sterilization container system comprising at least one band of shrinkable material encircling the base and lid of a sterilization container system. The closures are formed from a shrinkable material which, when exposed to a shrinking agent, shrinks to pull said lid and base tightly against each other for the goal of providing a microorganism proof seal to prevent the entry of microorganisms into the interior of the sterilization container system. Also disclosed are the method of using the closures to achieve that goal, and the method of using at least one agent which simultaneously shrinks the at least one band of shrinkable material and sterilizes the sterilization container system and its contents.

Abstract: This relates to the hot packing of products such as food within cans. In order to permit the use of less strength cans than heretofore considered practicable, it has been necessary prior to the closing of such hot packed cans to introduce a pressurizing media such as liquid nitrogen being preferred. It is here proposed to so apply the closing end unit to the filled can so as to permit the end unit to function as a piston and to effect a pumping action when it is applied so as to permit the internal pressurization of the newly filled can without requiring any additive.

Abstract: A method of sealing containers is disclosed in which a glass jar having a small upwardly convex bead on its rim is filled and sealed using a metal foil membrane with a heat seal resin on its undersurface and a plastic snap cap having a material thickness over the bead on the jar of at least twice the height of the bead. The foil membrane is induction heated while high unit pressure is applied against the top of the snap cap to impress the bead on the jar and foil membrane into the plastic of the cap to form the foil membrane over the convex surface on the bead and seal the membrane to the jar.
