  • Patent number: 8596314
Abstract: A container including a body defining an outflow opening and at least one chamber adapted for storing a product, such as a fat containing liquid product, and a container closure including a primary seal for hermetically sealing the product within the chamber during storage. The container closure includes a sealing member forming a substantially fluid-tight seal between the container closure and the body, and a dispensing member in fluid communication with the chamber. The container closure and body move relative to each other between a first position where the primary seal is seated about the outflow port to hermetically seal the product in the chamber during storage, and a second position where the primary seal is displaced from the outflow port to allow product to pass from the chamber through the outflow port and into dispensing member to dispense the product.

  • Publication number: 20110266168
Abstract: The present invention relates to a gas barrier and liquid absorbent container (1) for use in the modified atmosphere packaging of food products which tend to release liquids. The container of the invention comprises a base and upwardly extending side walls terminating in a continuous flange horizontally projecting from the side walls, and comprising an inner part of a liquid pervious material (20), and an outer part of a liquid and gas barrier material (10), said inner and outer parts being joined together at the side walls and being spaced apart from each other at the base to define an interspace (30). A circumferentially extending continuous portion (11) of the surface of the liquid and gas barrier material is exposed to provide an area for a gas barrier closing lid to be sealed. The invention further relates to a method of manufacture of said container, to its use in the packaging of food products under a modified atmosphere and to the gas-tight packages thus obtained.

  • Patent number: 7886504
Abstract: A container with a corresponding bottle neck having a capsule inside of which a substance is placed that is to be released into the bottle contents. This invention avoids having to sterilize the contents again after the container has been aseptically filled, even though the substance in the capsule often does not endure these temperatures. Thus, this invention provides a method with the following steps: a) aseptic filling of the plastic bottle; b) welding a first membrane onto the container neck; c) placing the substance, which is to be released into the plastic bottle, on the first membrane that is already welded on; d) covering the substance, which is to be released, by a second membrane and welding the second membrane to the first membrane. Lastly, a closure with a secured tamper-evident layer is placed over the capsule and onto the bottle neck.

  • Patent number: 7387217
Abstract: A plastic part is molded onto a top of a container having folded flaps on the top of the container. The container is formed into a tube shape from a flexible web material with crease lines. Contents are filled into the tube of web material, the tube is transverse sealed and a primary shape container is obtained by cuffing the web material along crease lines. A final shape container is obtained with multi-folding of folded flaps onto the container top. A mold of an injection molding apparatus is applied against the top of the container, and fusion thermoplastic material is injected into the cavity formed between the mold and the top of the container. The thermoplastic material is then cooled, and the mold removed to leave the plastic part molded to the top of the container.

  • Patent number: 6349524
Abstract: An embossed seal is formed in a cavity in the neck of a corked bottle over a cork using a die having a die surface with a die image. A first molten seal material is introduced into a die cavity. The die cavity is formed in part with the die surface. The introduction of the first molten seal material deposits an embossed seal portion with an embossed surface. The embossed seal portion is allowed to cool. A second molten seal material is introduced into the cavity of the neck of the corked bottle. The embossed seal portion is brought into contact with the molten seal material in the bottle cavity with the embossed surface disposed on top facing away from the molten seal material. The molten seal material partially melts the embossed seal portion to form a single seal upon cooling. The embossed seal portion is sufficiently cooled and solidified to prevent melting and damage of the embossed surface.

  • Patent number: 5725820
Abstract: A process for forming a package of hot melt adhesive material includes forming a bottom layer of molten non-tacky polymeric material in a container and depositing a bead of molten non-tacky polymeric material along the top edges of an open-faced rigid container and allowing the bead of polymeric material to pour down the walls of the rigid container by gravity so as to coat the inside wall surfaces and bottom surface of the container with a substantially uniform layer of the non-tacky polymeric material. The layer of non-tacky polymeric material is allowed to solidify in the container and form a substantially rigid mold of the polymeric material within the container. The mold is located in a rigid support structure and is conveyed to a molten adhesive filling station. The mold is filled at the filling station with a metered amount of molten adhesive which is allowed to cool and solidify within the mold thereby forming a solidified package of hot melt adhesive material.

  • Patent number: 4834823
Abstract: A fluid packaging means comprises tubular side walls and end walls disposed at the ends thereof, forming a bottom and a top, wherein the top comprises thermoplastic material without a carrier material, is injection moulded to the outer edge of the tube along that edge and has a pouring means, and the bottom is quadrangular and has triangular flaps which are folded over to lie against at least one adjacent panel. In order to provide such a packaging means with a particularly advantageous bottom, the invention proposes that at least two mutually oppositely disposed triangular flaps of the bottom are folded inwardly into the plane of the bottom or outwardly on to the side wall, about the lower edge between the bottom and the side wall, and fixed in that position.

  • Patent number: 4821490
Abstract: This invention relates to closing an open end of a pailette containing a biological element. The invention includes heating a dose of thermo-plastic material to a flowable condition and injecting the dose into the cold open end of the paillettes so that the material adheres to the inner wall of the paillette and solidifies to form a stable plug closing the end. The thermo-plastic material is preferably in the form of solid sticks. A valve in closing apparatus opens and closes communication with a reservoir containing the thermo-plastic material under pressure and defines a pre-determined volume for the dose. The invention is especially applicable to the production of paillettes for use in artificial insemination.

  • Patent number: 4312116
Abstract: A method of packaging an electronic module in a cap is disclosed. The module, comprising one or more silicon chips mounted on a substrate and having the chips sealed onto the substrate with a silicone polymer is supported on a cap with the chips disposed inwardly. An epoxy is dispensed on the back surface of the substrate and allowed to flow and bridge over the gap between the substrate and cap. The epoxy is cured by first heating the assembly with the applied epoxy to a temperature which will gel the epoxy. The temperature and rate of heating are selected so that the temperature is stabilized before the critical viscosity of the epoxy is reached. Subsequently, a higher temperature is used to complete the cure. The process is also characterized in that no significant decrease in temperature is permitted after the dispensing and flowing of the epoxy.
