  • Patent number: 7017796
Abstract: A paper packaging container is obtained by tube forming with a longitudinal seal of web-shaped packaging material. The package is filled with liquid food, and a transverse seal of the tube packaging material is made to form a pillow-shaped preliminary shape container. The preliminary shape container is then cut, and a final shape container having a top, side walls and a bottom is formed by folding the packaging material along crease lines. Flaps are formed during the forming of the top of the container and are folded outwardly and downwardly onto side wall faces of the container. The top of the container is formed as a shed roof shape. The method of folding the flaps outwardly from the top of the container and the resulting shaped container allows attachment of a large spout with a wide mouth on the top, while achieving high speed manufacturability without subjecting the paper packaging material to high stresses.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for carrying out a meat packing process in which carcasses of animals (102) are weighed (100) and moved on a boning line (101) in sequence past a number of boning and trimming stations (103 and 105). The trimmed cuts are transferred to a main conveyor (108). The cuts are placed in bags dispensed by one or more machines (22) which produce bag's whose lengths and widths are matched to those of the cuts placed therein. Each hook (38) has a bar code (39), which is scanned at the boning stations. Feed conveyors (241-243) are controlled by the central processor (34). The travel of the main conveyor (108) is monitored by the central processor so that each position on the main conveyor to which the cuts are transferred from the feed conveyors is identified at each trimming station and at the bagging station. By this each bagged cut can be identified with the animal from which if was derived.

Abstract: A device for carrying a compact disc having a central aperture and a method of forming the same are provided. The device comprises a blank formed from a single piece of paper board stock, with the blank including a generally rectangular portion having a plurality of fold lines dividing the blank into a plurality of sections. At least one of the sections is foldable along a fold line to a closed position in which the one section forms with an adjacent section an enclosure. A hub is formed in the one section, with the hub including a pair of members. Each member includes an outer portion sized to extend through the compact disc aperture. Each member is shiftable between an unfolded position, in which the member is disposed in the plane of the one section, to a first folded position, in which the member outer portion is folded along a first fold line and is positioned to extend through the compact disc aperture.

  • Patent number: 6341474
Abstract: Cigarette pack of the soft-carton type, comprising an inner blank and an outer blank (12) which is designed in the form of a carton and is made of paper or the like. Folding tabs of the outer blank (12) , namely side tabs (18, 19) and folding tabs (20, 21) of the base wall, are connected to one another by adhesive bonding. For this purpose, hot-melt adhesive is applied in a precisely positioned manner in the region of a continuous material web for producing the outer blanks (12), to be precise the adhesive is applied as rectangular or square side applications of glue (27) and base applications of glue (28). Thereafter, the outer blanks (12) are severed from the material web and are processed in the customary manner in the region of a folding turret. In this case, the applications of glue are activated by heat before, during or after folding of the relevant folding tabs.

Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a packaging blank of sheet material, such as cardboard, for forming into a box is disclosed. Digitally stored details of a predetermined number of basic box shapes are displayed for selection in accordance with the items to be packaged. The selected basic shape then provides a number of basic designs of box based on the shape, from which a design is selected. A blank in accordance with this design is then displayed, for the user to make further modifications to the design. The details of the final design are stored digitally and used to control a cutting machine to reproduce the blank from sheet material.
