  • Patent number: 11890819
Abstract: An apparatus for storing tissue and other biological materials includes a separable flexible container that includes a first layer coupled to a second layer via a set of seals to define a first storage volume and a second storage volume. Separate tissue specimens are containable within the first storage volume and the second storage volume. A first portion of the first layer or the second layer defines a first opening into the first storage volume. A second portion of the first layer or the second layer defines a second opening into the second storage volume. The opening into the first volume and the opening into the second volume are positioned near opposite edges of the flexible container. The separable flexible container also includes a hinge to allow the first opening and the second opening to move from location on opposing edges of the separable flexible container to adjacent locations.

Abstract: A food container is disclosed. Embodiments of the food container include a repository composed of inelastic, flexible material and a fitment with an opening sufficiently wide to permit extrusion of moderately cohesive foods with moderate to high viscosity, and sufficiently narrow to prevent such foods from spilling from the fitment opening. In some embodiments, the fitment opening bears a tamper-evident hermetic seal or a replaceable cap, which may also have a tamper-evident seal. Methods are disclosed for manufacturing the food container by assembling it and filling it with food. Other methods involve using the container to eat by squeezing it.

Abstract: A nicotine-containing pharmaceutical product configured for insertion into the mouth of a user of that product is provided. The product can have an outer water-permeable pouch, a nicotine-containing pharmaceutical composition situated within the outer water-permeable pouch, and product identifying information relating to the nicotine-containing pharmaceutical composition. The information can be presented such that a user of the product can discern the identifying information by visually inspecting the product and thereby differentiate or identify certain nicotine-containing pharmaceutical products. The product identifying can be, for example, printed, imprinted or dyed on the outer water-permeable pouch, positioned within the outer water-permeable pouch, or attached to the outer water-permeable pouch.

Abstract: Delivering a blood processing solution to blood in a blood bag includes coupling a first tube to a vented spike at one end and to a Y-shaped tube connector at a second end. An in-line microbiotic barrier filter is coupled to the first tube between its ends. A second tube is coupled to a transfer bag at one end and to the Y-shaped tube connector at its other end. A third tube is coupled to the output of the Y-shaped tube connector and sealed at its distal end. The blood bag includes a fourth tube that is sealed at a distal end. The third tube is welded to the fourth tube using a sterile tubing welder, wherein a functionally-closed, sterile flow path through which the blood processing solution can flow into the blood bag is maintained.
