Patent number: 11485122Abstract: Multilayer Films have a first skin layer that is prepared from a high density polyethylene and a second skin layer (also referred to as the sealant layer) that is prepared from a linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE) having a density of from 0.90 to 0.92 g/cc and a Dilution Index, Yd, of greater than 0°. Seals can be prepared by placing two pieces of this film against each other such that the sealant layers are in contact with each other, then applying heat to at least one high density skin layer such that heat is transmitted/conducted through the multilayer film in a sufficient amount to melt the sealant layer and form a seal. The use of LLDPE having a Dilution Index of greater than 0° has been found to improve the sealing performance of multilayer films in comparison to multilayer films where the sealant layer is a conventional LLDPE having a Dilution Index of less than 0°.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2021Date of Patent: November 1, 2022Assignee: NOVA CHEMICALS (INTERNATIONAL) S.A.Inventor: Robert Clare

Publication number: 20130067857Abstract: The present invention relates to disposing of waste in a safe manner by supplying an apparatus with a sealing system configured to only apply a seal to an elongated tube of material when several conditions are met, wherein the conditions indicate that the apparatus is in a safe configuration for applying the seal. The apparatus includes a push switch for sensing when the lid has been closed, and another push switch for sensing when a bin has been locked in the apparatus. Thus, when the lid and bin are closed and locked, a child cannot reach into the apparatus and the seal can be applied safely without fear of burning a child.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 17, 2012Publication date: March 21, 2013Applicant: SCANDINAVIAN CHILD LLCInventors: Cornelius McDaid, Brenda G. Patent number: 8341925Abstract: A method of packing and, for purposes of extending its shelf-life, heat treating a food product in a packaging container of paper or paperboard. The packaging container is first filled wholly or at least partly with foam containing a non-oxidizing gas, such as nitrogen, whereafter the wholly or partly filled packaging container is filled with the pertinent food product. After this filling, the packaging container is, where necessary, filled with additional foam to ensure the headspace above the product level in the packaging container is entirely filled with foam when the packaging container is closed and sealed by thermosealing. The closed packaging container filled with product and foam is thereafter subjected to the heat treatment for purposes of extending its shelf-life at a treatment temperature of at least 115° C.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 2007Date of Patent: January 1, 2013Assignee: Tetra Laval Holdings & Finance S.A.Inventors: Hans Nantin, Jan Lagerstedt

Publication number: 20120267272Abstract: A package is provided to include first and second sheets being releasably sealed together in a manner to define multiple compartments, each having one or more medical implements. A perimeter sealed region can have a seal width greater than an intermediate sealed region. A longitudinal intermediate sealed region and a transverse intermediate sealed region can be arranged within the perimeter sealed region. Formation of the perimeter sealed region along first and second ends of the package can be subsequent to the perimeter sealed region along third and fourth ends of the package. Before the formation, compartments having an opening facing the first end can receive medical implements, and compartments having an opening facing the second end can receive medical implements. The medical implements can remain uncovered by individual pouches when inserted into the respective compartments, thereby reducing manufacturing costs and environmental wastes.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 25, 2011Publication date: October 25, 2012Inventor: Sony Agrawal

Patent number: 8266872Abstract: The invention relates to a packaging tube for a pre-determined volume of a biological substance to be stored at a low temperature and to a system including same. The inventive packaging tube comprises a portion (2) for receiving the volume and an annular end portion (3) designed to be more easily crushed by pinching than the receiving portion (2) and to adopt a flattened position in which two lips (30) are in contact with one another. In addition, the annular end portion (3) is designed such that the lips (30) are secured to one another in order to form a seal (31) on the tube. The system includes at least one such tube and a jaw welding device designed to move the annular portion (3) into the flattened position and to weld the lips (30) to one another in order to form the seal (31).Type: GrantFiled: February 8, 2008Date of Patent: September 18, 2012Assignee: Cryo Bio SystemInventors: Alain Ehrsam, Laurence Marie Evelyne Ehrsam, legal representative, Philippe Jean Paul Ehrsam, legal representative, Laurent Christophe Ehrsam, legal representative, Francis Lesieur
