    Abstract: The invention is directed to method and apparatus for wrapping pads. A web of flexible wrapping material is adapted to be pulled in tension over a forming device. The forming device has first and second folding members having angled folding edges adapted for contact by respective opposite side margins of the web as the web is pulled past the folding edges. A web guide guides the web toward the folding edges. An opening between the web guide and the folding edges is adapted to be spanned by a central portion of the web as the web is pulled past the forming device. A series of pads are conveyed by a conveyor, one after another, and placed on the web as it is pulled past the forming device so that the pads move with the web over the opening and past the folding edges of the forming device. A surface applies a force to the pads to force the pads against the central portion of the web as the pads move across said opening.

    Abstract: In a method and apparatus for inserting empty bags into retainers, guide members are caused to approach both side edges of each supplied bag so that the vertically oriented guide grooves of the guide members contacted the side edges of the bag, thus positioning the bag in a position that is vertically aligned with a retainer. The bag mouth is opened by suction disks, and a plug is brought into the opened bag mouth. Then, the plug is lowered toward the retainer, so that both side edges of the bag is inserted into the insertion grooves of the retainer. After this insertion, a compressed gas is jetted out of a discharge opening at the tip end of the plug into the bag, so that the bag is spread open to the bottom thereof.

The film trough is advanced through sealing and severing stations wherein individually wrapped elongated objects or straws are produced.

The bar and rotors clamp the filled bag, lower it to a conveyor, and discharge it. The forming bar then swings forward and upward to clear the rotor arms, which rotate forwardly beneath it to permit the next bag to enter the clamping area. The forming bar then swings down to engage the front face of the bag and the rotor arms continue their rotation to engage the rear face of the bag. The forming bar and rotor arms may include endless belts driven to discharge the bag.

Cordage is woven around hooks and pins in the peripheries of the cone's base and truncation to form a sling over which is placed a degradable material such as burlap. A tree, whose ball is conically cut with typically a 60.degree. included angle, is removed from the ground and installed ball first onto the burlap and sling and set down sling and burlap first into the holder whose included angle is less than that of the ball thereby holding it above the truncation. Thereafter the burlap is folded around the tree trunk and tied with the loose ends of the sling and the tree removed from the holder with its ball wrapped and tied.
