Formation Of Azo Group By Coupling Diazonium Compound With Coupling Component In Other Than Stoichiometric Proportions Patents (Class 534/584)
  • Patent number: 6254671
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a green shade yellow pigment composition comprising a compound having the formula: wherein R1 and R2 are independently hydrogen, halogen, an alkyl group having 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxy group having 1 to about 4 carbon atoms, an alkoxycarbonyl group having 1 to about 6 carbon atoms, nitro, cyano, phenoxy or trifluoromethyl; and M2+ is a divalent metal. The green shade yellow pigment composition is suitable for use in plastics, paints, inks, electrostatic toners, powder coatings, and paper.

  • Patent number: 5697985
Abstract: This invention relates to a process for the preparation of storage-stable dye dispersions of alkali metal salts of anionic azo direct dyes by(a) preparing an aqueous slurry of an alkali metal salt of an azo direct dye, said salt having a solubility in water at 25.degree. C. of about 0.1 to about 15% by weight, by azo coupling one or more aromatic diazonium salts with one or more couplers while maintaining a pH of at least about 5 by adding a basic alkali metal compound in the absence of a nitrogen-containing base;(b) optionally, stirring the aqueous slurry at a temperature of about 5.degree. C. to about 100.degree. C. for up to about six hours;(c) optionally, adjusting the temperature of the aqueous slurry to about 5.degree. C. to about 40.degree. C.; and(d) adding to the aqueous slum/a viscosity enhancing agent in an amount sufficient to obtain a viscosity, determined at a temperature of about 20.degree. to about 25.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5086168
Abstract: The invention relates to monoazo pigments prepared from dichloroanilines as diazo components and CH-acidic coupling components of the acetoacetarylamide or naphthol series, these pigments only containing an extremely low level of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) (at most 25 .mu.g per g of pigment). The process for preparing the pigments takes the form of an azo coupling in an aqueous medium, whereina) azo coupling is effected by adding the diazonium salt solution to a suspension or solution of the coupling component or by simultaneously metering the aqueous suspensions or solutions of the diazonium salt and of the coupling component into the reaction mixture,b) azo coupling is effected at a pH or within a pH range of less than pH 7 andb1) between pH 4 and 7 during and after azo coupling less than 0.

  • Patent number: 4996302
Abstract: A process for the preparation of polyazo dyes is described which comprises(a) diazotizing a compound of the formula ##STR1## and coupling the product onto a compound of the formula ##STR2## (b) diazotizing a compound of the formula ##STR3## and coupling the product onto the product obtained according to (a); (c) diazotizing a compound of the formula ##STR4## and coupling the product onto the product obtained according to (b); (d) if desired, coupling of a further diazotized compound of the formula (3) onto the product obtained according to (c); and(e) if desired, metallizing the product obtained according to (c) or (d); and in which the symbols are as defined in claim 1. The polyazo dyes obtainable by the process are suitable for dyeing a wide range of textile and non-textile materials and, in particular, for dyeing leather.

  • Patent number: 4886891
Abstract: The present invention provides a process for preparing a 1,1-disubstituted ethylene derivative of the formula ##STR1## which comprises reacting lead with a carbinol derivative of the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, X, Y, m and n are defined in the specification. The reaction is conducted more advantageously in the presence of a metal having higher ionization tendency than lead.
