Abstract: A Naphthol AS colorant according to Formula (I): wherein R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, halogen, methoxy, ethoxy, -CONH-phenyl and - NO2, wherein the group Q is a group including two carboxyl groups or salts thereof. The Naphthol AS colorant may also be used for making colored layers and non-aqueous pigment dispersions.

Abstract: A lightfast colorant and a lightfast ink composition include a lightfast colorant that is derived by covalently binding a benzophenone derivative and a conventional colorant and that imparts effective lightfastness and long-term storage stability to an ink composition that is prepared with the same.

Abstract: A monoazo compound synthesized using 2-hydroxynaphthalene-3,6-dicarboxylic acid (or salt thereof), an amide, an ureide or an ester thereof as a coupler is novel, and is superior in water resistance, chemical resistance and solvent resistance. The present invention provides such a novel azo compound and a process for producing the same.
