Abstract: A protective cover device for an animal's head includes a first portion for securement around the animal's neck, behind the occiput and at or near the smallest diameter of the neck, and a second portion for covering the animal's ears that is fastened forward of said first portion and at or near the throat or jaw of the animal. The device may be a flexible/generally-flexible panel with supplemental shaping, stiffening, and/or adjustment systems to cup/fit the ears, to prevent the ears from sliding out of the device, and/or to prevent foreign objects such as cheat-grass or fox-tail, ticks, or insects from reaching the ears. Stiffeners may be added along or beside the central axis, around the front edge, and/or near the animal's ears, to shape and hold the second portion in a configuration protective of the animal ears and not easily rolled-up or pushed off by a paw/foot.
Abstract: A device is provided to aid prevention and treatment of ear infections in animals. In an embodiment, the device comprises a first strip and second strip of material such as elastomeric fabric. Each strip defines first and second holes corresponding to an animal's ears. Each ear may be received by one of the holes defined by the first strip. Then, the ears may be folded over the first strip to expose the animal's outer ear canal. Finally, the second strip may be placed over the folded ears and secured to the first strip to maintain the ears between the first and second strips. Thus, in practice, the device fixedly exposes the outer ear canals to air flow to prevent the growth of bacteria and yeast and further aids cleaning and medicinal applications.
Abstract: A fly mask for horses has a cage structure supporting a mesh, the structure being formed of semi-rigid plastic splines which hold the mesh away from the eyes and most of the surfaces of the horse's head. In a preferred form the fly mask has protruding lines at the location of the splines, protecting the mask against excessive wear due to rubbing of the mask against posts or other building structure when worn. A detachable protective nose guard can be included.
Abstract: A head covering that protects a dog or other animal against the intrusion of harmful things or elements such as insects, foreign matter, and weed seeds, which can enter the animal's ears, eyes, or nose and cause discomfort or damage.
Abstract: A semi-rigid animal head enclosure with a handle effective in muzzling and controlling a fractious animal using a lead passing through a portion of the enclosure and secured thereto or in corporation with a special capture stick having a lead forming a loop secured to the enclosure, one end of the stick and loop passing through the head enclosure and encircling the neck of an animal the stick having a method for releasing the lead from the capture stick, removing the stick from enclosure allows the lead to be secured to the head enclosure thus maintaining the enclosure over the head of the animal.
Abstract: A muzzle shield for protecting the muzzle of an animal from the ultraviolet light of the sun. The muzzle shield includes a frustum-like structure in which the narrowest end is attached to the muzzle of the animal distal from the nose region and sides of the muzzle shield extend outward towards the nose, extending between approximately to the end of the nose to slight beyond the nose. The frustum-like shape characteristic of the muzzle shield advantageously restricts the amount of contact that the muzzle shield has with the muzzle of the animal to prevent irritation, overheating, entrapment of insects or debris, etc.
Abstract: A canine protective suit comprising a face mask, a upper body protector and a lower body protector, wherein the face mask is removably secured to the upper body protector, and wherein the lower body protector is removably secured to the upper body protector. The upper body protector comprises elastic bands, wherein the elastic bands secure at least two front leg panels. Similarly, the lower body protector comprises elastic bands, wherein the elastic bands secure at least two back leg panels. To use, a canine's two front legs are placed into the two front leg panels as the upper body protector is placed on the canine. Similarly, the canine's rear legs are inserted into the back leg panels as the lower body protector is installed on the canine. The face mask is then disposed on the canine's face and secured to the upper body protector.
